Design wise for the hand I love the landscape/portrait hand options
1) If that ball scrolls at all like an HTC device then the numeric slider offsets it placement so you can hold like an ipod and scroll better with the thumb and
2) The keyboard slider whether in or out allows you to hold it like a PSP.
JD - Toilet paper is very useful and is used every day. At least you didn't it was crap.
Greg - Your best bet would be to develop it yourself. It's been 3 years since their last OS (a lifetime in technology circles) and if they can't even figure out how to get past 16 categories it couldn't be that hard to pull off especially given the amount of software made to run on it goes into the tens of thousands.
Palm could be bought out but what can't is all the hours of contribution faithful users have put into a company that seems to take its early success for granted.
I don't find it that surprising that they could be bought out as much as how quickly they sold out when they had the opportunity. The Zen of Palm or the Cult of Mac. 2 case studies of divergent paths. They both sought to give you everything in the Palm of your hands. The result? It sounds like the sound of one hand empty and a whole new world beginning with the bite of an Apple.
Palm is making a lot of silent noise. What gives. CES - retread. Iphone comes out - Nothing. Palm OS name change - nothing. Garmin drops palm devices - nothing. Lifedrive Dead ends - nothing. I'm ready to give them the mirror test for signs of any brand life. Even if you come out with something spectacular you are garnering a lot of ill will by not even saying anything. No sh** sherlock. It comes full circle I guess you reinvented the Newton and now the Apple has knocked you unconscious. It was your game to lose. Just like it was Sony's game to lose when Apple reinvented the Walkman.
It didn't hurt Ali to declare what he was going to do in the ring. This marketing drought except for all the dropping of this or that is downright disappointing and not honoring of those palm faithful.
I feel like Denzel Washington. Deja View. Didn't I see this before. Wolverine? Vosonic? What's the deal here? I mean come on. The price is almost as bad as PS3 markup especially when I own one and did not pay even half that. Also considering the hard drive is user replacable like a battery pack. Buy a 2.5 notebook HD and you just did a memory upgrade.
I comment on Wolverine's device before. Unless this is a stripped down copycat this baby has mad skills. Video (play & record), FM, mp3 player, etc. You can even pick this up in the NYC and avoid the slow boat from China.
Uh oh, looks like a new and improved TC1100. Not bad but is 500mhz the best they can do. 500mhz is great for a PDA but I wonder about a umpc. Not too crazy about the black border but the trackball device looks interesting.
Sounds like someone has been going over the brilliant work of Chris Knight & Mitch at Pacific Tech. They have developed a technology that actually generates a 5 megawatt laser. Their approach is to use a chemical laser powered by among other things dry ice amazingly. You can find their work documented in the documentary ;-) called "Real Genius". Quite a wonderful documentary especially for us engadget folk.
The tune you hear in the background is the Finnish Group Pepe Deluxe. The track is called "Woman in Blue" I own the album and recognized it instantly. FYI a very good debut album made of ingenious samples & studio wizardry.
Thank you, Josh for catching that. I own the Vosonic 8360 myself and appreciate the credibility and intelligence of users like you for giving credit where credit is due.
Beyond that, I must say I almost got choked up inside and felt all touchy feely at the care and thought Vosonic gave to their packaging. They had a very cool soft hardcase with a carabiner with mesh pockets inside & little pockets for SD & Compact Flash Cards. They also threw in headphones better than what Ipod originally threw in with their Ipods. A remote, yes, a remote control. RCA input & output cables, cradle, etc. I should stop I'm gonna tear up in a moment.
Bottomline - The thing rocks. SD/Compact Flash tranfer in and out. Record and play video, picture viewer, FM Radio, MP3 player, Text Viewer, etc. I should have known this was not gonna remain the best kept secret for long. I was aching for a Cowon A2 until I found out this type of device actually existed in reality. Next up is an OLED version - these guys are awesome - Vosonic that is.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"

The best of both worlds
