I was thinking about buying one of these anyway, but I'm too broke. Hook me up!
This is a great little utility, not quite as game-changing as Chax, but still damn useful. This kid should be working for Apple.
I want one! Pretty please?
Well, I suppose it was inevitable that they'd do something to differentiate between the student and regular versions, as I and pretty much everyone else I know just bought the student versions of everything.

At least my home computer still runs Office v.X pretty decently. I guess I'll have to pony up the $400 when I need exchange support.
I just ran a 7-pass erase on my old Powerbook last night as a prelude to selling it on Craigslist. It took about 4-5 hours on an 80 gig drive.

Definitely a must-do for anyone getting rid of an old hard drive if it's still in working order.
Adding a voice for SuperDuper.

My old PowerBook refused to boot and within a couple hours I was working off the backup of my system I'd made a day before. Lost nothing of value and didn't have to go through the hassle of reinstalling everything. An EXTREMELY good investment.
I haven't used this version yet, but the syncing on their old version left quite a bit to be desired, and I stopped using it because it was so unreliable.

Make sure you back everything up before you try it.
Actually, in my experience, "you get what you pay for" with the PocketMac software is exactly right. I could never get the damn thing to sync right with my 8700, whereas the Missing Sync software got damn near everything right from the first public beta.

If only Mark/Space could figure out the tethering thing...
This pricing decision seems particularly silly in light of both the free gCal Daemon for those who don't mind getting their hands dirty with code and the fact that Mark/Space is selling Sync Together, which syncs a hell of a lot more than just calendar info, for $50.

Granted, Sync Together won't sync with gCal, but for those who (like me) were using this as a .Mac alternative to keep two computers synced, Sync Together looks like a no-brainer alternative.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
