Nov 11th 2009 8:47AM You pay "massive roaming charges" even if you are not using Google maps. My WinMo6.5 phone is constantly using data.
When I frequently cross into Canada for motorcycle trips I call Verizon, have them upgrade my plan, I update my tower data, Ride!, Come Monday when I get home I call Verizon and change it back.
They prorate you just for the couple days. Problem solved.

I want an android 2.0 phone, but think I'll hold out for hardware I like more than the droid. Time will tell how long I am willing to wait.

Don't count on the FM antenna being enabled, but who knows... (Not too many CDMA phones have a FM fix (diamond))

Verizon my try to put on the good-guy hat and open up GPS and other gimped features (post lawsuit I might add).
I am so thankful for custom ROM's, providing for free what Verizon is too lazy to support.
