Yeah, his gamerscore was likely attained through gamesaving. Apparently he finished Forza 2 (and other time-intensive titles) all in a single day. I'd imagine he'll have a new account with plenty of points in no time.
Taking a division public is by no means a sign of financial crisis. It's simply a great way to utilize your assets to generate capital (as opposed to adding debt). Granted, Sony's not in the same financial condition as Nintendo or Microsoft, but this news is in no way a harbinger of Sony's demise.
I think the choice in beer had more to do with Foster's offering the larger cans, thus creating a greater sense of XBOX HUGE-ness.
For those who are freaking out that this is going to impact gameplay, please read the text on the YouTube page. Note that in order to be "remotely detonated" you must have been chainsawed at some point. So, without the glitch, you'd be dead. With the glitch, you've been given a brief reprieve.
They've gone and summed it up nicely...

WORK
REPRODUCE
PERISH

Makes me want to play games even more.
Road Rash on 3DO was a top gaming experience of my childhood. Great soundtrack (I still think of this game when I hear Soundgarden's Superunknown), graphics and gameplay... but sadly no multiplayer.

Interesting clip from the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer Wiki page:

"The success and quality of subsequent next generation systems which began coming onto the market in the mid-90's, the limited library of titles, the lack of third-party support, and a refusal to reduce pricing till almost the end of the products life were among the many issues that led to the platform's demise. For a significant period of the products life cycle, 3DO's official stance on pricing was that the 3DO was not a video game console, it was a high-end audio-visual system and was priced accordingly, so no price adjustment was needed."

So eerie when you consider the current state of the PS3. Yes, I realize Sony has built a solid gaming reputation and has more support than the 3DO did... but it's still and interesting bit to read, no?
Why isn't this simply the "Backhand" edition? Seems rather appropriate, no?
Dang. "New Action Game" was a title that could have swayed me into purchasing a PS3.
Impact on automotive world = now people know that Aston Martins drive like shit. And there's 472 versions of the Nissan Skyline... all of which pwn the road.

But seriously, I love the GT series. Forza 2 isn't going to be enough to keep me from picking up a PS3 when the new GT ships. Only then will I own all 3 "next-gen" consoles.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
