These horrid terms by ATT is exactly why I just bought 3 16GB first gen iPhones on ebay for me and my family. I've had mine for a year now and love it but will never switch to the 3G version because of the idiotic crap ATT is doing. I don't even get good 3G service in my area, so why pay for something I won't use, EDGE was always fast enough for me, I don't know what people complain about, you're talking about several seconds difference to bring up webpages, not a big deal.
Flash would suck on the iphone, I don't know why everyone wants it so bad. The only good use flash has is for videos, but apple has given us a youtube app for that and h.264 encoded web vids. The only other use on legitimate sites are for flash ads and horrible banners. When you have a small screen like that, and a slow edge connection, to me not having flash is a godsend because I don't have to deal with ads or any other annoying crap on my precious screen. The day they add flash support is the day us iphone users lose our serene browsing experience.
I so need that tv
Wahoo I want that. It's about time I finally get an hdtv in this house, I'm tired of the big fishbowl crt I got.
Yet they look like total douchbags on those. I don't know what possesses someone to get on one of those lame things. Every time I see a pic of one I think of the Frasier episode where Niles had one driving around like a dork.
Take out the expensive bluray drive and lower the price to $399 or less. I'd get one right away in that case.
All the people acting all confused and dismayed about Apple choosing to go with Cingular is either in denial or just doesn't get it. They chose Cingular because they are the biggest cellular network in the US by far. They wanted their phone to be open to the biggest possible audience. If that meant cutting out verizon with their craptacular feature cutting network and disabled phones then so be it. Verizon would never have let Apple put the iPhone on their network anyway because it does too much stuff on its own and verizon likes to screw all its customers by disabling bluetooth and file transfers and wifi and all that other stuff phone should be able to do out of the box. Sure they have a fast network, but to most people it's not worth having a hobbled phone as seen by the nearly 60 million customers Cingular has. I laugh everytime my friend with a razr from verizon can't do simple things like transfer music or photos to his computer as easily as I can with the exact same phone from cingular.
The iPod doesn't ADD DRM to your own existing music you rip and want to do anything with, so you STFU thank you.
Not really. Why would I want to pay for an fm tuner when I would never use it? That's the whole point of owning an ipod, you listen to the music you want, when you want. I got my first ipod over 3 years ago and honest to god haven't listened to the radio for more than 5 mins since then. My 60GB ipod is chocked full of music and podcasts, and I can go ages without ever hearing the same some again. I actually enjoy being able to buy an ipod with no fm tuner in it, why pay for crap I won't use? If you just must have one, apple offers an add-on you can buy, so stop complaining.
That zune looks as thick and boxy as the 5 year old 1st gen ipod. What's sad is that the 80GB ipod is still thinner than the 30GB zune. Talk about bulky.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
