@Joseph L Flatley im relaxed, its just that this device doesnt suit your personal needs, and its reflected in your post, it would seem to me that you would have more control over what you write about. if its silly then why spend time writing about it.

none of what you said in your reply was in the post. all im sayin is the information you chose to share with the world, is subjective, the information you shared with me was informative and objective. had you included these pitfalls of the device in your front facing post then the justification for it being silly would be understood.
Im not sure why the OP doesnt understand why putting a remote control on a phone is useful. Joe Flatley do you use a tv, are you changing the channels with your mind? if so where was the review for that, cuz shit i know id be interested in consolidating my remote controls with my phone. its already just as functional as one of those all in ones from logitech/marantz. if it isnt useful why make a post? what the heck, this is the second or third story on this device, and its now that you decide to deride the product. is it the addon you dont like, i dont understand the motivation to POST then to say its SILLY, w.e.

not having to do anything but use your phone to turn your home entertainment system on is a seamless idea. the implementation here is bulky, and the IR should be built in, they should do this for devices that have the IR built in already who knows, they probably do. but joe try to make sure you dont look like a tard when you post, posting a story, drawing attention to it, then calling it silly, makes you look confused.
22mos so no new customers, like it was stated up above, this is for long term users, who are looking to upgrade soon, ive had tmo since 02 so its all gravy for me!

good luck everyone, ill wait for the SE X3 though. 1700aws please!!!! crosses fingers...
something must me lost in translation from genius to laymen.
this is truly exciting, i feel for massa and his family however and hope for a full recovery, itd be ashame to lose your career on negligence

thank me later.
it would be really nice if this came with 64gb ROM (+MicroSDHC) and 1gb of RAM, then all this nonsense about it may be slow would be allayed.

i can only hope they put the cap on with the internal storage i dont want the paltry sizes apple thinks i want.

who sells a 160gb ipod and then says hey have 1/10th of that in your iphone so you STILL need to own an ipod. fuck that, i want to be able to watch/record movies, listen to music without having to worry about the storage situation, 16gb is a joke when there are usb thumbdrives are dirt cheap and have 256gb of storage. i hope that we'd be able to port different flavors of android on the phone. lets wait and see.

Glass Screen/64gb/1gb.

for those of you who wouldnt switch cuz of an app store ... not every system is as locked down as apples, where you NEED an app store. but as far as ease of use i guess its pretty darn awesome, however you probably shouldnt be reading this site ... just wait for the next commercial to tell you what you want, like copy and paste on a third gen device.

i hope that the internals are a step above what HTC is supposed to be coming out with in the next few weeks. but the bloated nature of these 3d animations/transitions i hope are user editable, if it was HTC i wouldn't doubt it, but this is SE so lets hope they can make the right moves.
/rant sorry

this phone does LOOK nice, i want to know the KIND of screen, the RES of the screen and overall size of the device, hopefully its got that OLED coming in at 480x800 with donut which is supposed to be out 6mnths after 1.5 so late Q4 ... i need a new phone and this is looking great.

if HTC would have put Sense on Firestone I may have a hard choice, but 16mill colors > 65K and well that would make it a MUCH easier choice.

i just hope this is closer to the touch diamond in size (hahaha not!) than the omniahd. but well have to wait and see.
uhh, you all who buy locked phones and then still complain about price need a reality check, either shut your mouth about whining about your contracts and the prices of phones or go buy a phone for real and then complain, cuz they arent cheap ... it gets me every time someone is so completely concerned with the carriers ... worry about GSM/CDMA not tmob/att and who'll have it cheaper on a 2 year.

im not on contract any more, and i dont buy locked phones, its bad business this way my phone and i can leave anytime we want or buy a month to month from another company.

welcome to America, where you can get cheaper cell service if you skip the middle man.

for me, and this is a personal observation, i would like to keep the carriers just that carriers, just another dumb tube.
edit: video playback resolution

and add support for popular lossless.

easy firmware update, could even do it before it ships out here.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
