Nov 10th 2009 10:42PM The Apple tax exists. It just seems to be an exponential curve, where the price of their product is reflected on the x-axis with the curve skyrocketing as you head to their more expensive products.
The base Mac Pro is a virtual pair of fists up the ass. A Quad Core Xeon, 3 gigs of ram and a embarrassing GT 120 for $2499? There is a near $1000 Apple Tax on that guy.

You do not need ActiveSync anymore. My Phone takes care of device synchronization of most items, and having it linked to an Exchange server will take care of the rest. If you want to synchronize calendars from various services, there are many ways to do it over the net. I no longer use WM but when I did, I never used ActiveSync. Everything came to my phone over the air. And for transfers to my phone, I use USB mode.
A Microsoft supplied task manager would be nice, but there are plenty of alternatives. HTC has theirs, as well as Task Facade which im sure runs like an absolute champ on this device. Any multi-tasking device should have a method of moving around apps, which is why task managers exist in the first place. The Pre, which I have, uses cards. Do they use cards because you have to control how many apps are open to save memory? Of course, but its primarily used to jump around through open apps. I fail to see how this is a problem, or why you would even bring this up.
I also went through many freezing situations with my phone, but that is primarily attributed to me jumping from rom to rom. On occasion, I would have roms that would last me weeks (about as long as I had a rom running on my phone) without a single restart. Others were daily.

Nov 2nd 2009 8:42PM The is still missing native hardware SDK access, and the programs available to it are quite lacking, especially in the game department.
Otherwise, im happy with mine. And, the browser is still better on the Pre than on Android. But i'm still drawn to Android for some reason. Maybe when the X3 comes out ill be more willing to switch.

It is interesting why Apple isnt going after HTC though. I guess it takes some time to get a patent lawsuit ready, so there may still be time.

Unless the device is already capable of playing high-def video (like Blu-Rays), which all have embedded chips designed to decode HD video very well. All that has to be done is for the stream to be itself a format that can be natively decoded on a player, and boom, streaming video.
Netbooks cant handle streaming HD not because of the streaming part, but because of the HD part. They dont have hardware (except ION) which is specifically designed for the task, instead tasking that to a CPU which is a multi-purpose processor, not a dedicated HD processor.
