Apple store is down: 16GB iPhone imminent? {Engadget}
Feb 5th 2008 6:21PM I hear ya. I am just a anti-apple myself a bit. Started way back in the Apple Lisa days when I decided gui's were for whimps. Of course the world has passed my bash self by..
Apple store is down: 16GB iPhone imminent? {Engadget}
Feb 5th 2008 9:09AM Amazing how Apple can spin their site beign down all the time as a good thing. I update sites all the time without taking them down. How is it the supposed brain trust at apple is so friggin lame they can't manage an online store modification and a few crappy flash animations to update seemlessly?
Sigh...
Apple finally weighs in on iPhone hacks, unlocking {Engadget}
Sep 25th 2007 7:17AM So how many years after Apple put out it's defining "Brazil/nazi'ish" commercial portraying PC as the leader of the stupid sheep. Will people finally realize that Apple is the old man on the video telling everyone what they need and how they need it. Why modify, we give you all you need. Soylent green is good for you, it's good for business, and it's just so much easier than having so many confusing choices.
Come on guys realize it. Apple is for the lazy and the weak, not the creative and capable among us. Just try throwing a Cake Walk or Final Cut Pro user in front of an actual video or sound equipment and you will see why they like it so simple.
Apple killing 4GB iPhone, $299 while supplies last {Engadget}
Sep 6th 2007 10:32AM Only 1 gig of music. Come on man. What do you only like one band? I have over 30 gigs of music and if you have anything lossless then it's even less room for music since the files are larger.
I mean my 8 year old daughter has trouble deciding which albums to keep on her 2 gig player.
Anyway... I guess the marketing isn't for you.
And what's with apple hating on their early adopters like this. This is why Apple was forgotten so many years ago by all but the extream fans. Who wants a company that craps on your recent purchases so soon. If I owned an iPhone I would be sending it back and buying a new one. But I don;t want one so....
Lots of luck fan boys.
Apple's locked iPhones the subject of new class-action suit {Engadget}
Aug 28th 2007 12:52PM How is this tax payers money?
If it is in some way using the money I pay in taxes then for once it is a good cause. Carriers selling phones for twice or 4 times what they are worth then locking you into unfair contracts is certainly Unconscionable in my book.

Jul 20th 2007 8:29AM Alright Mikko, Don't be too sure of the Abloy Protec locks. I have impressioned an Abloy classic before so it is possible to circumvent. And besides as other readers have suggested a lock is just a deterrent it is not the end all of protection to anything. Anything better than a padlock is just as good a deterrent to a non locksmith as an Abloy Protec lock. The criminal that wants in your house/car can always find a window or drill the entire lock out of the door, or remove the hinges. Unless it's a safe and even then all you need is the schematics from the safe company and a very skilled hand. Locks are there primarily to make us feel safe and to stop the casual criminal and nothing more.
In my opinion at least.
XM hit with false advertising lawsuit over "commercial free" claims {Engadget}
Apr 20th 2007 11:59AM Why are the article writers taking a side in this post? The word adumbrates means in essence that his claims are weak or unsubstantiated, sketchy. Anyway... I guess Engadget is a fanboy for XM.
iPhone might have 3G switched on via upgrade? Probably not.... {Engadget}
Jan 12th 2007 7:31AM This just in!
A million other sights including those that live to suck on Apples toes are already running all these stories.
Resist the temptation, besides 97% of the technically savvy community wont even buy it if it says Apple on it, why are you spending time paying homage to Steve "I've got just the car for you" Jobs?
TomTom, Garmin both claim victory in US lawsuit {Engadget}
Jan 2nd 2007 11:14AM Until one of these GPS companies starts droppign the prics of their updated maps they will all lose. People will buy one TomTom or Garmin unit, then realize 6 months later that their maps are sadly outdated and then that the new supposedly updated maps are 75 bucks and barely updated. Microsoft and Google have the right idea with the maps being updated daily for construction and the like, but the Microsoft mapping program sucks for giving viable routes, and Google has it's own issues. Anyway, the hardware for Garmin and TomTom are very nice, just not very customizable, and definitly way to expensive on the maintenace updates. If one of these companies don't figure out it's the ease of use and updateablility that will get them the customers, before the intgernet catches up and it's cheap to have wi-fi in your car, then you will see these GPS units become bricks. I have a Garmin right now I use but only on my motorcycle becasue I can't use a laptop with a GPS receiver attached to my bike. In the truck however, the maps I pull down on my laptop prior to heading out on a trip are much more accurate, and on a 15" screen to boot. It costs almost the same to get started this way as a Garmin or TomTom as well, If you have a laptop, the GPS receiver costs less than 100 bucks and a Ram mount for a laptop is under 100 as well. Anyway, it wont fit in your pocket like one of these others, but the UMPC is coming as well. So I imagine we can say so long ot Garmin unless your an avid biker or hiker.
just my 2 cents as I was very disappointed in needed to pay Garmin for maps the one time each year I really want updated maps, when driving cross country for vacation.
