Acer Aspire One gets reviewed, lost in the shuffle {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2008 11:48AM haha, apparently the term "netbook" has caught on... nevertheless, I still despise it. It just seems so demeaning and promotes the idea that these cheap laptops can and should only be used for browsing the web. I think that for most basic functions, ie. word processing, browsing the web, using chat clients, etc., these computers work just fine. Maybe I should just give up the fight against netbook, but I will not - I simply find the term inappropriate.

Jul 18th 2008 11:37AM Hi, I'm engadget. I choose random words like "netbook" and assign them to products that already have a clear name (subnote or subnotebook), and I act like there was never any clear name for these products. I then would try and justify it by saying that these computers are only good for surfing the net. I need to realize that the world doesn't revolve around me and adding my own titles to products that already have a name only adds confusion to the marketplace.

AT&T announces iPhone 3G pricing plans {Engadget}
Jul 1st 2008 11:30AM Wow. These prices are insanely high. Even if you are eligible for the 199/299 prices, you are going to be paying unbelievable amounts per month. The old iPhone is/was $20/month for unlimited data and 200 texts, and this one is $35/month for the same thing. That's $360 difference over two years. At every price level, AT&T has raised the prices (for 1500 texts, you are paying an additional $5 than what it was before).... and thats just data and texts
Now the voice... its even insanely expensive for the family plan. Why should each minute on the iPhone be more expensive than any other phone? Their family plans are signicantly more expensive for the iPhone + instead of the regular $10 per additional line, its a whopping $40/month... Seriously AT&T? You're gonna screw us over THAT bad? Seriously?

People are going to be buying this phone thinking its such a great deal, but they are going to be kicking themselves at the end of the month, every month. AT&T is squeezing every penny out of this that they can get. It'd probably be a good time to invest...
