I don't think there is a no-OS option. Going to wipe the drive anyway when you install SL (unless you are setting up a multi boot), so not an issue technically (might be a preference issue for some though).
You just convinced me. Total was $309 shipped (pre-tax), with proc bump, BT, 6 cell battery. Tethered to an iPhone this should be a sweet little machine.
That's strange, I ordered from them 3 times as well, and twice they came to my house and cleaned my living room! Great service, imo.
@(Unverified) Happiness is multiple backups. RAID != backup.
Here guys, I made a template for all future Drobo post comments:

"What a ripoff! I can hold X TB on my WHS/Linux server/RAID array for Y$ less than it costs for the Drobo Z."

Also, if you can configure 15 TB RAIDs while riding a unicycle, then the Drobo is not for you. It's for the rest of us that lack the time, experience or patience to deal with standard RAID and JBOD setups.

Note: if the droboshare is too expensive, google 'nas adaptor' . There are a few in the 50$ range.

@(Unverified) you looking for a date?
@Terrillo I agree, with the page/icon layout, it looks very 'touchable'
@(Unverified) Once it gets in the sub 10 seconds range, yes, as that's pretty much 'wake from sleep' time on most notebooks/netbooks. Longer than that, no, imo, since it's easier to just close the lid and let it sleep.

Personally, I never shut down unless I am forced to or am going to be away from the machine for more than 5 days.

Would be interested to hear the benefits of shutdown instead of sleep though.
@(Unverified) Do you think that MS is 'evil?' The article doesn't pass any judgment beyond a sarcastic 'Yeah, classy.'
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
