May 19th 2008 8:18AM This show has a lot of flashback scenes anyway. With Mary Alice gone, everything that really centered around her is done. I was surprised to see her in the episode last night but really, Mary Alice is "Gossip Girl" now. Her mystery is solved and she basically is just a narrator.
Fast forward 5 years, and now we have 5 years of flashbacks, secrets and mysteries. Limitless potential is here. I'm hoping for DH Season 1 style hype when they return in the fall.
For people worried about the future, they can actually advance the show 5 years and keep everything really 2008-2009. Why? Well, nothing in the show is really dependent on current events. There is no need to 'futurize' the show by trying to predict the future with paper thin OLED TVs or ultra sleek, factory bought cars that run on french fry oil. They can keep everything as current as it is now and it won't affect the storylines one bit. Cartoons are always stuck in a timewarp: The Simpson's, King of the Hill etc. This is a drama/comedy show, not a scifi. There is no need for the writers to try to bring in some tech that may or may not be around in 5 years. (Though Andrew's phone was nice: a slider with two screens? Me want!)
I feel bad for the actors that have been with this show from season one who will 'age out' though (Lynette's kids), but Julie, Bree's Kids and Edie's nephew, really don't need to be recast.
They are all older than the characters they play anyway. Now, they will play characters who are a few years older than they are in real life. No Big deal there.
I think the jump will be good and oddly enough I trust them. This is a big risk they are taking with change, but it going to be really good for viewers provided they successfully use the potential. I'm hoping they have a rock solid Desperate Housewives Bible written so that they can keep the continuity together.
My big question though: Had there not been a writer's strike, would the show still have made a jump like this?

May 5th 2008 9:12AM The used games sale was the only reason why I bought what I did from there Saturday: Atari Anthology for Xbox, Beautiful Katamari for 260 and Capcom Collection for PSP. Because GameStop tries to stuff used games down your throat so much, this sale is really the only time I buy used from them. Other than that, I stay away from that place.

Apr 18th 2008 8:08AM I've not enjoyed a Mortal Kombat game Trilogy. MK just didn't make the 3D jump very well. I mean, the animations in the 3D games look so awkward and it just doesn't have the right 'feel' to it like the 2D versions did. If they used MoCap, it wasn't done very well in comparison to other 3D fighters.
Interesting crossover, but kinda late to the party with Xmen V SF being out over a decade ago.
Namco Bandai to bring original Soul Calibur to XBLA {Joystiq}

I think Namco's showing Sony plenty of love with that exclusive across it's platforms, save for Tekken DS. Plus, the PS2 got Soul Calibur 3 as an exclusive. Also, Sony got Ridge Racer 7.... okay, that may not be so much of a big deal, but it's an exclusive all the same.
I would love to see Tekken on the 360. (Would save me from getting a PS3) I would love for the PS3 to get a port of Soul Calibur as well. But it seems that Namco only gives a customized kind of love to individual brands of consoles.
Who knows? This could just be a timed exclusive, time will tell.
