Initially, I thought 2008 was the year of PS3, but when I noticed that GT5 and Final Fantasy (the two biggest exclusive playstation franchises in terms of unit sales) were only going to be released in 2009, it seems that 2008 will be a good year, but not a defining year for the PS3.

PS3 does have good exclusive games such as MGS4, but unproven games like Little Big Planet, Motorstorm 2 and Killzone 2 won't make the PS3 desirable beyond the people who bought the console already. As far as sales are concerned for GT5 prologue, it's bought by PS3 owners but it doesn't drive console sales.

Nonetheless, PS3 will do ok this year, but mostly driven by movie enthusiasts (bluray) and 360 will need to capture the heart of mass market if they want to stay above PS3.
Well, in the best buy I work for, PS3s are mostly sold by people in home theater... ie. as a blue-ray player with HDTV and audio system.
There were REAL shortages in January, somewhat shortage in February, not much shortage in March.
The demo of Bee Movie Game had flawless presentation, graphics, and sound..
Crackdown was surprisingly a good game.
Name me one 40$ game that only has 6 tracks and 70 cars.
I bet you that ps3 fanboys voted for the PS3 whether they will buy the game or not to screw the votes in favor of PS3 (in this case, be closer)
360 obviously, it's easy to see why:

1) will definitely have better graphics (like practically every multiplatform games, even if it was developed for PS3 first)
2) 1080p probably only for 360. PS3 has like only 1 game that displays in 1080p (according to the back of boxes) and it's Call of Duty 4
3) Download Content
4) Friends will have the 360 version
5) Controller is better
6) Will probably have constant 60FPS while PS3 might get some slowdown
7) I don't have a PS3 (will only have it if it was a gift, just like my PS2)
8) GTAIV was delayed from 2007 thanks to the PS3 being a b*tch to develop and get it up to normal 360 standards
I believe that even though there are some minor shortages for the 360 in America, the general sales are higher year-to-year for 2008 vs 2007. In the end, word of mouth is the only thing that will sell consoles. People are scared of the RROD.
RROD? that's so 2006 and 2007.

As far as Sony's comments are concerned?
Metal Gear Solid 4: Splinter Cell always had better gameplay (but not true for cinematics and story), and Splinter Cell Conviction is available for the 360 exclusively

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: Sorry, i'm not paying 40$ for a demo.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
