Clear the roads: Paris Hilton running a Spyker C8 Spyder in Bullrun {Autoblog}
Apr 30th 2007 10:05AM Hmm. May 11, you say? May have to go sit on the side of I-87 and watch all the nice cars go by. I bet the state troopers who infest the Northway are rubbing their hands in anticipation.
Top Gear could be U.S. bound with British hosts {Autoblog}
Apr 9th 2007 4:40PM I wonder what ever happened to the Americanized, recast version of Top Gear that began production a year or so ago. It was mentioned on the Top Gear website, they even had a couple of promo pics, and that was the last I ever heard about it -- which is probably a good thing, but I'm still curious about it.
A US Top Gear starring Clarkson/Hammond/May could be good if done right. There are plenty of cars, including some decent ones, that we have here but that aren't available elsewhere in the world. Examples include the new Honda Civic (rest of the world gets a different model) and the Scion tC. I'd be interested to see those reviewed. But maybe they should just have an American segment on the UK Top Gear from time to time -- I'm not sure a US-specific version of the show could sustain itself, and I'm pretty certain it would be forced to lose a lot of its personality. In the UK, they have the advantage of public BBC funding. In the US, they have to rely on advertising support. Advertisers aren't going to be happy having their cars declared rubbish.

Apr 2nd 2007 10:17AM JT Nesbitt must be really pissed at how they've diluted his design. The prototype looked much better.
Spoiled Brats: Forbes makes teen-car wishlist {Autoblog}
Mar 7th 2007 3:52PM Personally, I think everyone should have to spend a year on a moped and then motorcycle before being allowed to drive a car... but obviously that's not about to happen.
Next best thing, in my opinion, is a boring sedan at least as old as the kid... preferably one that the kid has worked to help pay for him/herself.
Blast from the Past: Getting Started with the Newton {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jan 29th 2007 9:25AM The real pity is that NewtonOS 2.0 fixed all the Newton's previous inadequacies -- the Newton MessagePad 2000 and 2100 were amazing devices that continue to be useful to this day -- but it never got a chance to catch on because the Newt was killed off. I wish Apple had sold it off or open-sourced it instead of killing it. Even now, 10 years after the Newton was killed, a MessagePad 2100 is still a better PDA than anything else on the market. A modernized version with a smaller form factor, hi-res color screen, and built-in Wifi would be really nice. The iPhone comes close to being what the Newton could have evolved into, but it's not quite there.

University's Morgui robot deemed too scary for kids {Engadget}
Jan 16th 2007 10:31AM Oh come on... this seems like an ideal way to teach children to respect technology. A little paralyzing terror never hurt anyone.
Seriously though, most kids I know would probably think this thing is cool.
Sony announces CompactFlash cards as hell freezes over {Engadget}
Jan 16th 2007 10:26AM Or could it be that the only reason the camera will use CF is because it was designed by Konica Minolta before Sony bought out their camera business....?
One in five use iPod at work {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 31st 2006 8:57AM I work for a graphic design studio that's organized in a team structure. Most teams have a stereo in their space. The team on the floor above me usually plays really bad music loud enough that I can hear it clearly through the ceiling of my office, so sometimes I'll put my headphones on to drown out their crap. Also, if I'm trying to crank through work I'll use my headphones to help eliminate distractions like the phone.
