Can you guys get over the blackberry thing already?
Apple doesn't necessarily have to actively block Palm, Nilay. They could also

- Start using features from the iPod protocol that Palm hasn't implemented yet (if there are any)
- Change the protocol format and require new devices to upgrade their firmware
- Make a slight timing or ordering change that Palm didn't anticipate (say old version of iTunes always does X then Y, but new version does Y then X -- if Palm didn't expect this to be possible (it's a reverse engineered protocol, after all) then their devices may crash while Apple's don't).

The point is that they could do any of the above non-maliciously, just by refactoring code or whatever. Not that I think it would be a good idea...
Not too impressive. If the difference between a MacBook and an ultraportable is 0.3 inches of display then Apple is even more magical than I thought. Also, to get there for a laptop with a 13 inch screen you follow "Is the screen larger than 13 inches?" (no), "Does it have an optical disk?" (yes), "Is the screen smaller than 13 inches?" (NO), "Does it have an optical disk?" (YES). Guess I'm missing the funny.
OK, Thomas Ricker is officially my favourite Engadget blogger.
To prevent prisoners from cutting it out they should implant it in the middle of the brain, maybe near the amygdala (responsible for the fear response) to maximise creepy scifi horror potential should anyone try anyway.
Er, you did notice that Engadget liveblogged Bill's speech, right, and then followed that up with an interview with Bill later? The "Engadget are a bunch of Apple fanboys!" troll is looking really tired.
Good thing you're a Herman Manfred.
Great, we've got "Android" and "Dream" -- I look forward to the upcoming built-in razor attachment, "Electric Sheep".

Jack "Daniels" Tretton. Hah!
I can't stop reading this as "Verizon's fail line", which, given the resemblance of the OS to a certain other phone, makes me giggle every time.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
