I've come across the same problem. It was a little annoying for me. Now by default I disable the CD-ROM and only connect it when I need it. I do all CD burning and only need the DVD drive in Mac OS X anyway so it's not a problem for me. Good tip though. I usually use fullscreen mode so I didn't know you could disconnect from the console.
I'm running iTunes 7 on a 24" iMac, a MacBook, and a Powerbook. I noticed that the Powerbook needed some time to download cover art and time to process gapless playback. Over a few hours of playing it ran a lot smoother. Of course it runs faster on the faster machines but even on a machine a couple years old it seems to run fine. Intially it did not download album art but I ran get album artwork from the advanced menu and it downloads more and more each time it scans. I also tried it in the RC release of Vista without any problems. I think once it updates the library and downloads the new album art content it runs much better.
I agree with flamer's grill. People still are hesitant in using credit cards on the Internet. Most people are not like us readers on Engadget. I think most people couldn't tell if a webpage is secure let alone a phone connection for payment.

You are correct. Thanks for fixing my error.
Well when they initially released the Aluminum models, the 15" came first then the 12" and 17" followed. In any case if they could it wouldn't have been a bad idea to replace those two models at the same time. My 12" Powerbook is aging fast so hopefully they replace it soon and I'll be there to pick one of those up.
It sounds like they add extra flash chips. To add the extra flash clip it would probably add at least another hundred to the cost. I have the 4GB and I don't know if I would pay over $300 for a Nano with 8GB.
It's unusual to me that audio manufacturers go to such great effor to support the iPod, but they don't support AAC in their head units on CDs. There are a few companies I've seen but I think companies like Alpine and Eclipse should as well.
It's bad enough when you see people talking to themselves because they are wearing bluetooth earpieces. Now they can look even cooler wearing one of these.
Most products nowadays are pretty similiar in features and price. When it comes down to it, whoever markets their product better will win over the consumer.
I'm a little disappointed they didn't make too many cosmetic changes to the enclosures of both the MacBook and iMac. In any case I'm still interested in picking one of the models up.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
