.......seriously?

I can plug my iPod into as many computers as i want and add whatever songs from that library i feel like (minus DRM'd songs of course).

It's called "manually manage"

If we were talking specifically about auto-syncing, then maybe you have a point, but considering that "Manually Manage" is an out-of-the-box option (no hacks or 3rd parties involved) that will allow you to hook up to whatever library you want and dump songs onto your iPod, i'm going to re-redirect my "wtf" back to where it belongs.

"given [Apple's] insistence on limiting your iPod to one library at a time."

wtf?

am i missing something? or have all my iPods been magical exceptions to this "rule"?

I can use as many iTunes libraries as i want... and i've never had an issue.

What exactly was that supposed to mean?
30gb for $89.99 is hard to beat.

Since the Zune was announced, I've been in the school of thought that they will sell really really well if they are somewhere around half the cost of a competitive iPod. ...that's about the only hope MS has of moving these things in any significant numbers.
@Wwhat:
Your attempt at condescension, with absolutely no relevant information, is worthless.

I appreciate the effort though, using a diaeresis mark and everything...
h.264 and AAC is the combo of choice here... i see little point to DivX support.
I could hardly care less.

I'm just wondering when the hell my Denon DVD player will be able to play Wii games. :P

I already have a nice DVD/DVDA/SACD/CD player that upscales and hooks up through HDMI... do i really need my Wii to play DVDs? no.

Besides, half-step convergence is meaningless to me. unless a device is going to do EVERYTHING, and do it well, (IE: play HD DVD, BluRay, DVD, DVDA, SACD, CD, stream from my iTunes, plays Youtube, Joost, is an HD DVR, and makes a sandwich for me after my backrub...) then i really don't need yet another mediocre DVD player.

My Wii does what it was designed to do, which is play games. My DVD player, my AppleTV, an HDDVR, those things do what they do best. I don't need my AppleTV to play games, I don't need my DVD player to stream from iTunes, and i certainly don't need my gaming machine playing DVDs.

"if 'brown' plus 'Zune' evokes the urge to cough up your wad..."

wtf? who writes like that?
This would have been a novel idea... what, 8 years ago?

who's in charge of these companies??
...uh, what?

I'll admit i am a kid of the 80s, but what the fuck are you talking about?

you seriously... you think that...

oh screw it. you're an idiot. if you can't see the difference between a human and an object, then it's really not worth having this conversation with you. (and if you DON'T see how equating the two is in poor taste, then you really are an idiot.)
"news of former playmate Universal amassing an "anti-iTunes" which could seriously compete with the Cupertino monolith's business."

AAHHAHAhahahahh!!!!!

that's a good one. Universal "seriously competing" with Apple on digital music distribution.

funny funny stuff.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
