They demoed this at WWDC. All the ZipCars have a cellular modem installed in them that works with the RFID sensor. Basically what the app does is send the unlock code to the car through its cellular modem.

Oh, and it will also let you honk the horn so you can find the car.
I'm guessing the iTunes search hasn't aggrigated the new app yet. You can get it by clicking the link:

Apparently there's a difference between "online streaming" and "mobile streaming."

"SIRIUS & XM offer all of the channels for which we have mobile performance rights. For that reason, certain channels which may be available on your satellite radio or online radio service may not be available on a mobile device like the iPhone."

Guess Howard's contract didn't include mobile devices. Wanh-waaaanh...
According to Ford, the reason this upgrade only works with the 2010 models is because there's a GPS chip installed in them that's missing from the 2009 and earlier models. That GPS is necessary for the driving directions and finding local businesses, etc.

They say there's no way to upgrade the older models.
You mean MAY 26 in that title... right?

I just got a 2010 Fusion SE. The Sync system was the only "must have" in the car. Works like a charm, which is shocking considering who created it. The services seems like all it does is call Tell-Me (whom Microsoft now owns) but I'm anxious to see how well it works.
Business cards, bills, insurance documents. Basically everything I keep in my fire safe.
...You tutor people? Really?
If it had been an April Fools joke, he would have given her a Zune.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"For a long time I have been searching for a portable device where I can store all of my CDs in MP3 format and stream the songs wirelessly to my HiFi system. The portable device must I've tried FM transmitters, they all suck. I don't want a docking station. Any help? Thanks!" have a display so that I easily can scroll through the playlists (I don't want to use a TV or monitor). I suppose that there must also be a second device that is connected to the HiFi system that would receive the wireless streams from the portable device.
