Now someone just needs to make a stop-motion lego man iPhone unboxing. That would be sweet!
Technically, couldn't they say that they've been using fiber for a decade even if it's only to connect a RAID to a server in some closet somewhere... I mean, they don't say in the add how the fiber was being used... I'm not trying to justify that ad, I'm just pointing something out... unless someone else did already.
I'd really like it. Love the new design too, and Switched is already in my Google Reader :-D.
Here's an idea (someone's probably already said it but I don't want to read through all 4 pages of comments): just stick and LED on the shift key, and make it so that if you hold down shift for, say, 3 seconds, it automagically turns into caps lock. Small-keyboard supporters get their real estate, and caps lock supporters get all of their uppercase goodness. And if people don't want to have to change the software on the computer, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to attach a timer to the shift key and simply have it send a caps lock signal if it's held down.
Heh- this kid needs to learn the power of Linux. I could've done that when I was 11 - 4 years ago. But Windows 2000? the computers are old. Putting linux on would make them more modern. And my school won't let me run the network :-(
kewl, something I suggested actually made it to an article! thanks TUAW!
Wohoo! I wasn't born 24 years ago, but I must say I wish I was. Happy birthday Mac! I'm still trying to get my hands on a 128k Mac for my collection.
Yeah. I like it. And it is surprisingly cheap, for such a "designer" drive. However, no sale for me without FW800. Otherwise my Time Machine backups will take forever.
First, great job Peter for actually building this thing. Next, for all of those people who are criticizing this thing, why don't you guys actually build one of these, and add in your improvements? This guy made it for what he needs, and if you don't need that functionality, well, that's fine, keep it to yourself.
The last thing isn't as related, but does anyone know the battery or touchscreen in this thing? I tried emailing Peter but I got a Mailbox Full error (from his server, not mine). I'd really like to build one but I need to know what battery powers this thing, and I'd also like to get the same touchscreen.
This would go perfectly in my room!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
