For some reason one question I get from a lot of friends when they ask about my iPhone is if I can hook it up to the computer and get internet on my laptop. Seems like there's a lot of demand for this service (though personally I'm not sure I care about it).
Interesting...

I assumed that most applicants got in, since I'm nothing special. Though I suppose I do have a shipping, for-sale Cocoa app, and they did call and confirm I was who I said I was along with requiring proof of my business license, so I guess they really were somewhat picky. Anyway, hopefully they open it up to anyone who applies when iPhone 2.0 is released.
I saw Chasing Ghosts at Sundance this year and loved it. I highly recommend seeing it if you have the chance. I didn't get a chance to see King of Kong (it was playing at Slamdance simultaneously) but I'm looking forward to seeing it too.
"Look at this mouse. It's the most wonderful mouse you've ever used." That made me laugh. Cool to see the excitement around the iMacs introduction. Who could have known it would be as important as it was to Apple's recovery.
I remember that a long time ago, when Google first released Google Desktop for Windows (this was before Tiger/Spotlight was out) that they said they were working on a Mac version. Even at that time, I thought it was strange with Spotlight coming up. After Tiger came out, I seem to remember either hearing or at least inferring that Google wouldn't be delivering Google Desktop for Mac because there wouldn't be much of a point. That said, I'm still glad to see Google remembering Mac users and releasing this. Now if they'd released Picasa for the Mac...
FWIW, while mine had been charged a few days ago, as of today, the pending charge has been dropped. Looks like Apple was just preauthorizing cards to ensure that they were "working" and the real charges will probably appear on Tuesday when they really start shipping.
"the equivalent of VPC"

Seems funny that he didn't realize that the equivalent of VPC on a Mac was VPC, and it was a Microsoft product...

Anyway, I agree with the above poster. The guy was right. MS does need to simplify and do things faster.
That's a shame. As a Mac developer, I'd love to be able to write software for the iPhone. Who am I kidding though, I'll probably still get one...
I bought an Apple TV as soon as the store went up. It'll be a perfect fit for me I think. I do wish Apple would add movie rentals to iTunes...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
