I played with one of these at the Kyobo book store in downtown Seoul the other day and they're not particularly exciting. The whole thing has this matte plastic-y feel to it, you just know that it's gonna get really dirty and/or break within months of owning it. I mean, you can old the thing and flex it and it goes, "creeeaaaaaak."

I don't know if that's the norm as I haven't put my hands on any other ebook readers on the market.
actually its pretty bad. i played it on my psp and it was... err... actually a lot less fun than watching all 10 stages (so far) back to back.

the sad thing is that it might actually be more fun to simply play versus.com's fantasy tour.
I spoke with one of the customer reps - gonna buy an English model before they ship 'em all Stateside. I was quoted

$169 + S&H and that the full updated firmware would be available June 30th - which is when I expect it'll launch in the 'States. I'm gonna pick it up next Wednesday and I'll see if I can post some pics/details.
I contacted the guys who make the Mintpass and they said they are currently in the process of releasing an English-language model Mintpass. I've already requested he hold onto one for me as they won't be sold in South Korea. If you want one I'd suggest you do the same.

All that said, I've been looking all over Seoul and I can't find where the hell they even sell these things. Technomart - no. Yongsan market - no. Lotte Department Store - no. Are they internet sales only?
you realize that they're in the process of remaking the entire eva series right? the first of three movies has already been released and the next one should be out in a few months.
just a suggestion: if at all possible would you guys mind posting things like double xp weekends like 24 hours in advance of the weekend? this will give your readers in europe and asia some advanced warning. by the time i get to see these updates my saturday is already over and my sunday is usually scheduled.

thanks!

reader in korea
what about korea?!
wow, you are so off. besides the obvious cultural differences you simply don't understand, to say that the japanese populace was committing war crimes is completely wrong. the japanese government was entirely to blame and in the same way that the modern german government would rather not talk about jewish death camps the japanese prefer not to talk about nanking.

yeah, it's not good, but that's reality.
here's the thing with germans: no one kills germans. we kill nazis. seriously. they make such a huge effort to turn it into a political thing that we don't think for a second about it.

japanese on the other hand, are we killing japanese? are we killing imperial soldiers? who are we killing? there's no political affiliation they can build up to protect the japanese like we protect the germans.

besides, this whole they committed war crimes thing is completely bunk. who even talks about that anymore at an international level? even korea and china are mostly over it. the only thing that they get their panties in a bunch about anymore is north korea and japanese text books.

we don't blame the germans anymore do we? no. that's because the government that committed those atrocities is now gone. so why do we continue to blame the japanese when the government that caused them to commit their atrocities are too no longer in power?

americans are simply too willing to make people who aren't white 'evil'. the german's aren't evil because the nazis did it. the russians aren't evil because the communists did it. the japanese and more recently, the muslims, are evil though. why the inconsistency?
an additional comment:

considering all the terrible garbage i am forced to listen to coming out of the mouths of fellow players on psn or xbox360 i can only imagine being extremely offended playing w@w.

it was bad enough having to listen to people talking about killing 'a-rabs' and plenty of other things i'm sure i cannot say on joystiq. but it will really, really, really hit home when people start spouting racist bigoted stuff about asians. racists generally don't bother to research what words stereotype what cultures.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
