I don't think she's the mother because the whole premise of the show is old Ted telling the story to his kids-- they were fooled initially when they thought Robin was the mother, but if Stella is the mother, they'd know about the older half-sibling that the mother already had before they met.
He's not the "elected spokesperson" for Asians, but he IS the main character who was cast with a white actor. If it doesn't bother the person being portrayed, then any controversy is projection from people who look for an excuse to cry "racism" whenever they see something they don't like.
Jeff Ma (AICN interview): For me it wasn’t a big deal, because for about three years people had been asking me who I wanted to play me in a movie and I never was saying like “John Cho” or “Chow Yun-Fat” or “Jackie Chan…” I really wasn’t and I mean if I asked you who you would want to play you in a movie, you wouldn’t be thinking “I want the most similar person,” but you would be thinking ”Who’s cool?” or who do you think would personify your personality or who is a good actor or who is talented, so as much as I think people like to look at it at face value like that, the reality is if you ask anyone who they wanted to play you, it wouldn’t necessarily be “Who’s the most ethnically tied to me?”
Jeff Ma has said in multiple interviews that he wasn't bothered by it at all. What more do you need?
So the networks take a show that ran for five seasons and decide to kill it like that, without even a real finale? Thanks NBC! Remind me again why I watch your network?
They just haven't used her this season. I don't know if it's the writers' fault or if it's due to Amanda Tapping's schedule, but she just seems to show up, make a comment, and disappear.

I wonder if the reason she's being dropped is because Sanctuary was picked up by Sci-Fi.
I was disappointed by the whole premise. Nobody goes crazy and spends the entire day "preparing" when there's a tornado watch! Tornado watches happen all the time.
Game Boy compatibility is the biggest thing missing from the DS, I think. I have a lot of original GB games and I'm running out of ways to play them. It seems silly to buy a GBA SP when I have a DS already!
No Mandy Moore in the poll?
I think this whole thing sucks, but at the same time... I have a ton of books to read, plenty of TV on DVD I haven't watched yet, and between my Netflix queue and my quest to watch the entire IMDB Top 250, I have about 200 movies I still need to see. So I'm not going to be running out of entertainment anytime soon.

Most people are probably similar-- we'll miss our shows, but we'll find other ways to entertain ourselves. The industry is taking a huge risk here because there a whole lot more entertainment options than there were in 1988. If 10% of viewers didn't come back in 1988, 25-30% might not come back this time.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
