1/Calpurnius: Im thinking maybe they havent written off the prophecies. Clearly the Cylons have greater control over their internals (as someone mentioned above, Shannon plugging a fibre optic into her arm..), what if they could control the blood removed from shannon/the baby? Clearly, the Cylons want the story to play out, so it stands to reason they too wouldnt want the president to die before they reach earth. Once they are close enough, they could turn off the cancer killing properties and let her die all over again.
Or taking it further, maybe the cancer was never the terminal disease referenced in the prophecies? Maybe something in the cylon baby blood is?
Indeed, just how much of all this have the cylons planned themselves? They can make baltar see things, so they could be the cause of roslins hallucinations too. They were on caprica, so could have planted her cancer to make her believe shes the terminal leader. They were on the planet of the gods, so could have set up the earth map. Quite why they would be planning out the story I dont know. Maybe they figured the "all of this will happen again" wasnt actually happening again, so figured they had to make it happen?
Okay, its all a little far fetched, but not much more than bsg already is...
In all fairness, Samsung arnt the ones saying its portable, Engadget are. The Samsung press release says its a receiver with integrated display, which you could install say under a kitchen cabinet.
I think its because the LEDs are much bigger than LCD pixels. Basically the backlight would affect a whole group of pixels, which generally is what you would want. I havent looked at one of these in person, but i would imagine around the edge of a high contrast change you would see a more normal LCD black instead of true black like the rest of the image.
This individual colour LEDs seems to take it even further - allowing a RED to be more RED by simply not having any blue or green in the backlight, but again, it can only do this over a small area instead of per pixel.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
