Kurzweil predicts that machines will match man by 2029 -- bring it on {Engadget}
Feb 17th 2008 7:40PM Kurzweil actually made this claim quite a while ago, which is (sort of) indicated in the article when he says he has "made the case" for this being true.

Rick Rubin proclaims "the iPod will be obsolete" {Engadget}
Sep 5th 2007 10:27AM You all DO REALIZE that the Wired posting AND the Popular Mechanics posting are all based on the same NYT article, right? That's what engadget should have linked in the first place as that's where this "$19.99" is coming from.
The Rocket Phone goes for pizzaz, not eloquence {Engadget}

iPhone Hackers: "we have owned the filesystem" {Engadget}
Jul 10th 2007 6:43PM Um, it was discussed before that the OS is *not* 700 MB but rather ~300MB (or thereabouts). Recall that the formatted capacity of a storage medium is less than the labeled capacity; it's the question of the definition of a GB: is it 1024MB or 1000MB? For the 8GB iPhone, you subtract this difference and the space required by the file system and *then* the OS, leaving you still with 7.24GB usable space.
iPhone processor found: 620MHz ARM CPU {Engadget}
Jul 1st 2007 11:45PM Without knowing the specifics of the processor designs, clock speed comparisons are meaningless. Than be high frequency-clocked "slow" processors and vice versa.
Lexus LS600hL's face detection camera, warning system get spied {Engadget}
May 3rd 2007 8:56PM This sounds incredibly dangerous, assuming this thing's effects are nontrivial. It banks heavily on the infallibility of the software: what happens if the system decides (erroneously) that something is wrong while you're barreling down the freeway and attempts to wrest control of the vehicle from you? A disaster, that's what.
Hopefully you can just turn it off.

Wii retail details: markup and endcaps {Engadget}
Oct 7th 2006 11:25PM Those negative margins are for the manufacturers (i.e. Sony and Microsoft), not the retailers; Best Buy/Circuit City/CompUSA don't sell anything for less than the price for which they purchased it.
