From what I have seen very few are getting units that have ngage on them and the download version does not work yet. I saw one post on the Nokia forum where someone in another country(if memory serves me correct) did a software update and ngage came along with it.
All others that responded in different locations, including those with N97 NAM units, had no such update available.
I miss the days when Casio used to make PDAs for the U.S. market and have those on sale. At least they had some of their cool cameras there.
You guys slipped a bit on this one with this line "What sets Efonica apart from the Skypes and Gizmos of the world is its claimed ability to work even on dial-up connections...".
Gizmo works on both broadband and dail-up, it is even stated on their website here: http://gizmoproject.com/learn-more.html

I've already held a conversation with someone who was using Gizmo over dail-up and the call quality was just fine. I'm not sure where you got the impression that Gizmo does not work with dail-up but at least now you know it does(assuming you read this post).
Having NAND flash in harddrives worries me. NAND has a limited amount of times it can be written to before it becomes unusable. Having that form of memory in a harddrive could greatly decrease it's lifespan compared to convential hardrives. Even if the NAND is rarely written too, it is still a obvious limitation compared to conventional harddrives. I'll take the slightly slower boot times and the slightly less battery life for a harddrive with a greater lifespan.
This hardrive type is just a short answer to a larger issue, rechargable battery tech needs to improve. If the battery technology improved fast enough to keep up with our mobile tech demands, then such things would not be needed.
That's just my take on it.
This one is perfect for the likes of me. I'm a PDA fan with a GSM carrier. Also I do reviews of PDA content for my own little site(click my naem below to view it), and I do not have a Windows Mobile 5 device or a square screen device to test on(nor can I afford one). SO please help a small time reviewer out.
Time to get thin, RAZR thin.
MD would like a Blackberry
I wonder how this compares to my Pocket PC?
Well...I would not mind one now that they are not getting sued out of existence. lol
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
