Sirius-XM iPhone app coming 'real soon' {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 28th 2009 3:59PM I have been listening to XM on my iphone for the last month using an online subscription ($7.99 a month), by using the OoTunes software in the app store.
It's a pretty sweet program, with a built in browser, so you can surf the web, check web mail, etc without exiting the program. Kind of like multitasking within an app. It cost me $2.99 and was some of the best money I spent in the app store.
I wonder if the new rates will affect Ootunes users. If so, I'll cancel XM. (Sirius is supported in Beta and there are many more streams besides SiriusXM that you can access thru Ootunes.
SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone. What's the deal? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Apr 21st 2009 9:29PM You are absolutely correct. I don't care about anybody else except for my beautiful self because nobody else should enjoy this product on the backs of people who were exploited by Sling Media.
I wouldn't say this if the beta didn't work on the old devices. This is clearly a case of older devices being locked out to force upgrades.
SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone. What's the deal? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Apr 21st 2009 6:47AM I hope that Apple kills the Sling Player app the way that Sling killed support for their older units.
Furthermore, I hope that they offer a competing product and crush Sling Media.
Sling's $50 rebate on iPhone-compatible boxes rendered useless by stupid pricing {Engadget}
Apr 8th 2009 5:33AM Not getting away with murder with me. I don't trust them enough to buy the next version just to have it obsoleted when they need more money. To say that image quality was an issue is such utter crap -- anyone ever watch a show over 3G? Since when is resolution an issue?
@Matt, I think the point is "big deal, a $10 discount."
F.U. Sling. I hope that you become a case study in failure.
Sling rains on its own parade {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Apr 3rd 2009 10:48AM Having happily paid $30 for the logmein app, I'd say that I would have easily spent $30-$40 for an iPhone Sling app. However, I won't upgrade my device AND pay for an app. Not when I'm being intentionally fenced out by a marketing decision.
On the other hand, LogMeIn has provided a GREAT & FREE service to me, and I thanked them with my business.
The idea that "the customer is always right," is definitely NOT true. However, customers should be treated with respect and decency. They could have offered a slightly more expensive version of the application for older devices by saying that part of the price was included in the newer devices.
Sling rains on its own parade {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Apr 3rd 2009 9:08AM I have been a proud owner of the 1st generation Sling, but as the saying goes, "standards are industry's way of codifying obsolescence." My Slingbox will join the trash heap of other unused gadgets I've acquired over the years.
Has anybody had any luck with Hava Player? Are there are dedicated devices that will work with Orb? If I'm going to be forced to upgrade, I'm going to upgrade to something without the one viewing node limit and without DRM.
