Don't worry guys. This thing was a joke. The event was clearly planned for about 100 people max instead of the 1000+ that showed up. It was held in one small room in which we all stood like caged chickens.

There were a handful of vendor displays, but nothing worth fighting through the crowd or spending more than 30 seconds at. People bickered like starving peasants over the tiny bit of free food offered. Beer was long gone by 7:05.

The giveaways were pretty decent (didn't win anything myself, though), but that's about the only positive I can think of. I really regret driving an hour each way from Santa Clara. I love Engadget and will continue to be a loyal reader, but I'll obviously never attend another event like this.
Intheknow,
Kaleidescape is nice, but not worth the dough for us nerds. Putting the parts together is easy. It's the software that can cause pain.

-Make sure you have a gigabit ethernet network. Wireless won't cut the mustard when streaming video.
-Build a half decent computer. Make sure you have a big case and a burly power supply.
-Buy a RAID card. I prefer Areca cards with PCI-Express interface.
-Install Server Edition if you want > 2TB partition(s).
-Install software. You can get as fancy as you want depending on your preferences.

Other Options: Check out Lime Technology and Enfrant ReadyNAS for simpler plug and play storage solutions.
TOOO MUCH! C'mon. I look forward to the day when Wimax puts an end to this pricing nonsense.
Deep down, we all know this product is destined for failure. I would bet the farm that it will be riddled with shortcomings and compromises if it even makes to market at all. The technology just isn't there to build these commercially at a reasonable pricepoint.

Wait for Logitech to figure it out. Speaking of which, how about a new G15 w/ color LCD. Am I right?
HA! Take that DRM. Micro-analyze the implications all you want, but it's still a victory in my book.
This will be great for PDA phones. That's the biggest knock I have on my MDA. The difference between VGA and QVGA is huge.
C'mon, no whammies no whammies no whammies no whammies...
C'mon..no whammies no whammies no whammies..
I'll take flash memory over this anyway. Duh.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
