I love how fast those webpages load! Bam! Right there. Fast as a photo roll photos even. No irritating wait at all which would give me a chance to tell the guy to stop being a pussy we'll figure out dinner after the movie.

HP seems to be playing with fire regarding their track pads. Every other one looks and feels different which seems like a terrible idea to begin with. How is it even remotely possible that you would make the part of the machine that the user interacts with the most - the very worst thing about it? Is anyone at hp reading this? Do they use their own machines?
Who exactly are you quoting when you say people are claiming this "blows away" anything? Sound like you've setup a strawman there. Also, what machines do you refer to in comparison that handle their duties quite well? I'd love to see the links keeping in mind the size and cost of the zino because I've been looking for something the past couple weeks and have been pretty disappointed with the options. Thanks for any tips.

As for the mac mini comparison - os x doesn't even support blu ray so yeah you can get a "serious setup" that immediately puts the mini at a disadvantage.
Is it just me or is it stupid that the engadget link go to a config with a monitor included with no option to downgrade? Bah. Just a terrible job. Makes it seem way more expensive than it is. Go here:

To begin at the beginning and get an overview of what you can do. Don't know a lot about these chips but I'm reasonably pleased. I had heard this thing was gonna start at $600. A tuner would be great but as it is now the very cheapest config is only $100 more than the roku hd box and that's pretty obviously worth it given all the other stuff you can add in into your media mix vs roku.
Does anyone know why MS doesn't open it up? At least to games - even xna indie arcade stuff? Something? They seem to have the all the tools and the foundation to build from why cripple it?
>Developed by WarMouse in partnership with the OpenOffice.org community,

There is your problem right there. This is either a satire or the terrifying downside of crowd sourcing. Nothing says cobbled together like the black cord with the white mouse. Everyone got to contribute something! If they outsell the number of buttons on the thing I'd be shocked.
What a stupid move by AT&T - this ad so got under their skin that they reacted in a self destructive way. Even if they win they look like crybabies, I mean why not respond with your own ad? 'Cause you got nothin'?! Plus it seems very clear to me that the ad is talking about 3G coverage so when the case gets tossed it is going to look like the gov'mint legally agrees with the ad: AT&T's 3g sucks. Heck, if you read the filing it looks like AT&T agrees too. Great publicity for the ad as well. I mean, what's the upside here?
@all things

I love that you are an AT&T customer but you "have to admit" a verizon ad is stupid. That's an hilarious attempt at misdirection. Guess what?! A lot of people still live and travel to the verizon areas noted on the map. Hey that's great if you only stay in large cities some people get around a lot more and having a real network is important. I know two people who have and love their iphones but they carry another phone on verizon because not only can they not count on their main phone in certain big cities, they travel all over and need to always be connected.

There nothing "ridiculous" about covering parts of the country that you yourself don't go to.
What a bunch of socialist nonsense. Offend in what way? The hardware makers also have the option of putting something other than xp on the machine. MS is within its rights to determine how their OS is used as Apple has amply proven. So they say an xp machine can only be so powerful - yeah that sucks but see there is a solution beyond for bureaucratic meddling: Buy something else. You can get Ion machines with linux on them so for the love of god buy them and quit your whining and fining. That will do more than your absurdly tired "M$" will do.

The direction of the OpenGL API has been a confused mess until the last year. The failure Longs Peak disillusioned many and gave people plenty of reasons to develop for DX other than upfront cash incentives. Now the platform is back on its feet and developers will come back to on their own which you are seeing with iPhone games to name the most obvious. See they go where the money is without needing government intervention.
The surface can track 52 inputs at once. In this case 2 fingers can only be used for gestures. It can also track patterns on a physical object which I doubt this can do.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What's the best gaming laptop for under 1,500 bucks? I had my eye on the P7805u (Gateway), but it seems Best Buy has run out for the time being. Also, as a secondary question, I like the specs on brands such as iBUYPOWER and CyberPower and the like, but are they reliable? I'm a little worried about buying labels that aren't huge like Dell, Gateway, etc. Thanks!"
