Never Too Early: Miami Dolphins Fantasy Football Preview {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Jul 24th 2008 9:57PM Henne wasn't taken with the team's second pick, but rather the third pick. The Dolphins had two second round picks, #32 and #57. Henne was taken at #57, which was acquired from San Diego in exchange for Chris Chambers. Note that he was passed over at #32.

McCown is actually not the frontrunner for the QB job. Right now, that's John Beck; QB coach David Lee has worked all offseason with Beck, completely re-doing his throwing motion for a higher release point. Beck estimates he threw around 8000 passes during the offseason. You don't put that kind of work into a guy if you don't want him around.

Henne's only true advantage over Beck is his age; he's a few years younger, which means Miami can get better QB play for a longer period of time out of Henne than Beck, presuming all else equal. But Beck was a better college QB, is very good at impressing his coaches, and may actually have a stronger arm than Henne; remember, Beck was second only to JaMarcus Russell in the 2007 combine arm strength measurements.

Stay away from Henne unless/until Beck falters, something that may never happen.

Oh, and Ricky Williams is absolutely worth a mid-to-late round pick. He's the #1 RB on this team right now until Ronnie becomes fully healthy. It's not even a case of a handcuff pick, it's a case of getting the starting RB on a team that plans to go run-heavy. Rookie Jalen Parmele is someone to look at down the stretch if Ronnie is limited or if Ricky gets that lifetime ban.

In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid [w/VIDEO] {Autoblog}

Jun 26th 2008 4:30AM "Sounds like a good car, but don't understand the reason for Mercury to exist."

Way to contradict yourself there.

Oh, for a rare news story on Mercury where the know-it-alls don't try to run the auto industry from their computer chairs.

In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid [w/VIDEO] {Autoblog}

Jun 25th 2008 11:30PM I love the contrast between the comments on this article and the one about Mercury parts orders.

I'm going to get an '09 Mariner Premium, non-hybrid, and it's nice to see positive reviews on this thing. And I wish ice blue looked as good in person as it does in those photos.

List of cities that are in AT&T's 3G coverage {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 10th 2008 7:47PM South Florida is blanketed in 3G from Miami to Orlando. Looks good to me.

Take THAT, northeast-centric media!

Patriots Mum on Nick Kaczur's Fondness for 'Rush Limbaugh's Drug of Choice' {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Jun 7th 2008 2:22PM Failing to see how there's any parallel between Limbaugh getting addicted to Oxycontin post-surgery and Kazcur obtaining pills with intent to distribute.

3G or not 3G: WHERE is the question {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 23rd 2008 3:16AM AT&T has South Florida blanketed in 3G all the way up to Orlando.

I'm pretty sure I'm good.

What More Does Dan Uggla Need to Do? {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

May 19th 2008 5:09PM They just moved him lower in the batting order, so they're probably waiting to see if he still lights it up from that sixth spot for a little while longer. Plus, for a 2B his defense isn't THAT great.

Uggla's up for arbitration at the end of the season, though. Given that he's one of the core players on this team, he'll probably get a contract offer towards the end of the season.

Ask Engadget: Subnote or full-sized laptop for university use? {Engadget}

May 15th 2008 9:06PM And yet, it's equivalent or lighter than many comparable notebooks. It's certainly lighter than the Dell Inspiron 6000 I replaced with my MacBook.

Furthermore, the point wasn't "get a MacBook." The point was "get something equivalent in size and feature set to the MacBook, as it's a solid balance between performance and portability."

Ask Engadget: Subnote or full-sized laptop for university use? {Engadget}

May 15th 2008 6:38PM Both. Get a smaller-sized "regular" laptop. For example, the MacBook: its screen is 13.3 inches, it's little over an inch tall when folded, it's lightweight, and it's extremely portable. (Not as much as the Air, but come on.)

Don't go for a subnotebook. You'll regret it when crunch time hits. Just get a 13.3'' laptop, even if you pass on the MacBook.

ESPN NFL Draft Ratings Drop {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Apr 29th 2008 8:15PM It means that people are tired of Chris Berman giving away the picks before they're announced.
