Actually this is simply two 8800GT's on a single PCB with horrible driver support at this time. It's pre release, the card isn't out yet so don't judge it. BUT, because we already know it is just an SLI 8800GT setup on one card, we know that you will NEVER see the kind of performance that was promised.

THE MAXIMUM that is even possible from this card is going to be lower than an SLI 8800GT 512MB setup.

As I recall, in a past press statement Nvidia stated their 9 series to be almost quadruple the performance over the 8 series, then months later claimed over 2x performance, and now we see that there really is ZERO performance gain because the new cards ARE die shrunk 8 series cards to bring down the cost, then rebranded.

I used to be a big ATI fan until AMD bought them, then through the 7 and 8 series I turned to Nvidia, now I think I'll just stick with my 512MB 8800GT OC, these new cards are nothing more than Xx50's

By that I mean they should have been called the 8650GT (9400GT), 8850GT (9600GT) and 8800GX2 (9800GX2) because that's all they are.
Err.. when are they not available? and when are they so expensive?

Right now, I'm typing this on my 50" 1920x1080 75Hz LCD panel via DVI. I use it strictly as a PC monitor and nothing else..

It costs a grand total of... duh duh duuuhhh... $1800

There are drawbacks to having such a large LCD though. These are to be expected and don't bother me much, but if your even within 6 feet of it, expect to be moving your entire head to look around instead of just your eyes, and expect to get burning red eyes if you use it too close for several hours..

But I tell you..... Crysis... in 1920x1080... in 50 inches... max settings... is.... amazing...
Actually those were both entertaining shows to watch, but I definately enjoyed battlebots ALOT more..

Battlebots was more about completely destroying the other ROV til it couldn't physically move at all. The hazards were more entertaining and challenging by adding in things that would tear into the ROVs rather than simply ending the match, or things that would interrupt the match and make the drivers have to think more, somewhat mixing things up for the better.

Robot wars got really boring because it was basically just throw the other bot out of the ring, or have it drive into the gay pit, or have the whole match ruined by lame ass robots with completely pointless things like flamethrowers. Seriously, what the hell is the point of throwing flame on something shrouded in metal? I seriously don't even recall a single episode where any of the bots in robot wars were even destroyed by the other competetors, it was either thrown out, or smashed by something stupid like a washing machine.. Not only were the house bots lame, but it made it unfair. If they both were to drive by the same bot at the same time, the operator of the house bot would basically right there choose who is going to win, and defeat the purpose of the match.
ok, lets compare.. but first, let me say that I only own an xbox360, and not a ps3..

Wii,... no games, yes they all suck..

Xbox360, we have .. erm,, Dead rising.. yea that..

PC, everything (too many to list)..
@AnyKey

NO WHERE did he say shit about windows. Now STFU you apple loving queer.

Yea, no shit windows users would find it, we already had it in the way of the Bonzai buddy. What he is saying is that all of those stuck up pieces of crap who use macs would think its cute and disregaurd it thinking that their PC's cant get viruses, when in reality it IS a virus.

Oh and enough of this PC vs MAC crap! a MAC IS A

P ersonal C omputer
you god damn retards.

And NO I dont own a mac, Why? because I'm a GAMER that's why, now go fu¢k yourselves.
no... That thing really would get broken fast... Your not going to start worrying about your peripherals when your playing an FPS which requires rapid reaction .

But overall I don't think the thing is worth $200, mabe $20-60 but not $200..
PEOPLE,, PEOPLE,

Bill!
Bono!
That other guy!

STOP SAVING THE AFRICANS!!
no, I'm not a racist, but it's CLEAR that if there is a god, he HATES black people! Only Africans are the ones dying at a rate of 4400 per day from AIDS, clearly someone didn't like black people..

I don't think it's coincidence.. It's a fact now.
WOOOOWWW

First thing I though,

how the F*** does a 1% tax make kids go outside?

Firstly, kids don't buy the games, it's not their money, it's their parent's money, and regaurdless of how much extra it will cost, the kid will still get the game.

Also, WTF, 1%!? that's CLEARLY a scheme to blame the video games industry and rack in more free money for some dumbass greedy organization.

1% extra to the parent buying the game is nothing, I doubt that if they put this into effect that anyone would even notice that they're paying more. But get 300 million people to all pay 1% tax on video games and TV, and whatever organization the tax goes to is now getting billions of dollars. It's not going to help kids AT ALL, just the greedy people who want the free BILLIONS.
@ nathan you would actually pay $900 for this? even THAT is very overpriced, I'd say no more than $400 for the hardware, and also take off $300 because of the crap os.
You just said right there that you MUST boot into windows to play games on it, which COMPLETELY kills the purpose of owning an APPLE.

Video encoding is just as powerful on an 8400GS as it is on an 8800GT, and professional 3D apps would use an OpenGL card such as the Quaddro or FireGL series, so basically, yes, it is pointless to buy one..
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
