If it was the government saying Dell to pay, Dell could very well tell them: F**k off, we won't buy a single PC/Monitor/Whatever else from any Taiwanese OEM if you make us do this!!!

Then, the big OEM's would all line up at the government door telling them: F**k the people, we want the money. As the governement has been doing that for the past year, they would simply go on with business as usual...
I know this technology (it is embedded in the decoder). I went to China to see a demo of it and, at least for most of markets. The chip transcodes the signal both onto the lcd and to a file, that can either be SD, HDD, USD flash drive, etc... for most SD cards and USB flash drives, you won't be able to record Full HD signal because they are not fast enough. After you plug it in, the chip will test it's speed and will tell you what kind of format you can record.

I asked about recording from analog sources and their answer was simply "can't". Then I lost interest in the product. Most people have to use STB's on their homes, and then the signal is sent to TV either by HDMI, or by SCART, RCA, composite... If it only records signal directly from the Digital signal, it is somewhat of just a gimmick.
They already put nuclear power plants on the best beaches of Taiwan, they wouldn't put another one in a top touristic spot like this. They need these things because the swarm of Chinese tourists will generate 100% revenue (which is more important than 100% power) when they buy merchandise from the stadium (probably made in China).
I think people also forget that Intel uses something called MDF's (Marketing Development Funds) to keep the OEM's at bay. That is why when you see a comercial to a product featuring an Intel cpu, you see their logo. Intel used this approach to make it impossible for OEM to use AMD products. The rebates, in forms of MDF's, basically increase the margin a company can have in a single product. I know how this works, because other companies do it. The difference is that none of them is in a position of doing it in such a large scale that is basically killing competition, as Intel does.
This is what happens when you are trying new MB design. You just throw it on an older mold (saving you the money of creating a new one for testing purpose). Once the MB design is final, the company will then proceed to finalize the design and create a new mold.

So, no, misters, this is just another guy trying out the ION platform inside an old netbook mold.
It is good to see that HannSpree is still working, specially after all their problems with the European Tax office for failure to pay due taxes on their LCD products...
I really hope that LG will put some sense on the heads of the HannSpree people and make them starting to design something people might buy....
This is not about the use of plastic, but about the use of plastic materials as container for gardens. Remember that one of the reasons most roof-tops don't get gardens is because of the load on the roof by the earth needed to cover it. If this plastic allows to have gardens in places that couldn't have them previously, then it is a bloody good solution.

As far as I know, earth is not the responsible for cleaning CO2, but the plants. So if this material can be use as a container for plants, more roof-top gardens will show up, not only increasing the CO2 consumption, but also decreasing electricity bills (as in you use less cooling in summer) and also as reducing the amount of rain water that goes into the draining system in a particular moment. This is specially important in a country that has typhoon season.
just don't forget to run an AV before you start installing your computer....
already saw the publicity from CHT (Zhonghwa Telecom) for the touch, although I am more waiting for the software to be ported to the rest of the pack (the dialer, theme and today plugins are already ported to lucky WM6 Wizard/Artemis users).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
