Practically, the state's environmental department introduced the bill - the governor introduces all executive agency bills.
If you folks would have actually read the bill, you'd know this only applies to "motor vehicles," which in turn are "self-propelled vehicle and any such vehicle in combination with any trailing units, used or physically capable of being used upon any public highway in this state in the transportation of persons or property." ORS 825.005.
So this bill only applies to truck trailers and buses, as far as I can tell. I doubt this will mollify anyone, though...
The Kindle should have a slot-load SD card slot, rather than the slot covered by the battery cover. It's not really conducive when swapping memory. I am also not a fan of the wireless/power placement. I've turned off the unit several times enabling the wireless for my morning paper download. A retractable, flexible-neck light might be nice, but I could only imagine that would suck down valuable power. At this point, I've charge my Kindle once a week or so. Silent buttons would help late-night reading sessions while significant others are sleeping, as well. The LCD can be a little grey in lower light conditions, but the readability of the display is one of the best things about the Kindle. I can read on one far longer than I could an LCD screen. My eyes do so much better with a Kindle than reading RSS feeds with my Motorola Q.
Granted, it isn't a perfect unit, but I've found that it does its core function - book reading - quite nicely.
My 2nd-gen wrist straps haven been fine. Maybe some people are just a little too excited and/or jumpy - I've never felt like I was going to fling the Wiimote into my TV.
I knew I recognized that road. Was a much better way to get back to Montana than I-90.

"I am looking for a 12- or 13-inch ultraportable that can also play modern games at a reasonable level, for less than $1,000. I know the brainiacs out there can help me out. Love the site, thanks!"
