I bought an R8 waiting for the digital back to materialize. It was going to arrive late, and I took this as a very bad sign selling my setup. If the engineering for a digital back is a larger effort than expected, then my expectations for the basics (image quality) may be more than compromised.

Leica has half the battle -- lenses -- but needs to find an ergonomic and technological approach which matches the M's... Not easy!
I doubt that it is chewing through the paint, that would be a problem, but sits on the surface just like it does on my silver PowerBook. Cleaning it is a pain, but the oils do come off. Black, and especially textured, laptops just hide it better. The problem is your sweaty hands!
As somebody whose owned Marantz Gold Pre-amps and Macintosh valves as well as pretty much the best of the moderately priced solid-state products including Marantz tuned CD platters, you really have to go pretty far to dis Apple Lossless. I've onwed stereos since I could walk as my grandfather designed them. I switched from vinyl because it was frustrating to get a tick, and for something of convenience. Dynamic range is debate-able, although half of that is due to producers pushing the volume up. I swithced from CDs because finding something amongst the din of thousands of discs can be hard with a teenager, and the damn things do deteriorate. But, I have to say the for me the best possible scenario is to push a pure digital signal through the most minimal of circuit. The shuffle is actually the best of the bunch, but won't handle Lossless. The valve softens the signal, again debate-able. But, hasn't it always been so?
Open formats! What a fantastic idea, but don't you think that this applies to every other category of information--Word documents...--format? What is "backwards" is not looking at the purpose of the law. It's like implementing an emissions tax on propane powered forklifts, and ignoring every other type of "gas" powered machinery.
While the concept of open media is a good thing, isn't the targeting of Apple only unwarranted. Require that every file type, including a .doc, be open. And, isn't this an issue with the copyright holders rather than Apple, afterall Apple didn't even want DRM feeling that it would hinder sales.

This law needs some thought!
The perfect profile, larger than a Newton; smaller than a tablet... If it connects to a 30" monitor, tis it! OS X makes it actually useful as opposed to my Tablet PC.

One can only hope! Time to update SketchBook Pro!
Wouldn't it be nice if somthing like this were built in to large displays to assist lower powere devices like tablets?
Skip that! I ordered a Sanyo HD-1...

Full 720 and rumored 1080, and a 5m still for $800...
After I gave my AudioLab/BW setup to the son for college and moved into a one bedroom apartment, I bought a B+O BeoSound 3 (or whatever) which this thing looks exactly like. It's a drag when people cannot actually design their own products!
An LED backlit LCD perhaps, and I'm sure at some point Apple will bring such a beast to market... It fits with the other rumors in the consumer electronics, but next week is pretty unlikely. They'd be foolish not to have a mobile device and home devices by the summer in order to retain the iTunes market advantage, though Steve is rarely in agreement with the fan boys.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
