you are just happy that there happens to be an apple store near your house. super.

i've self fixed and upgraded various parts of various PCs in my day and it really isn't that hard. mostly the obvious stuff like memory, keyboards, and hard drives but i've done a few wifi to wifi/wimax mini PCIs and a display here and there and you don't need help for the regular stuff. its pretty easy. apples are actually a little more involved (not difficult mind you) but involved since they value aesthetics more so they invariably use more panels/screws or hide things for looks.
@weg
have you even tried to look for your drivers????? i can find your drivers easy and i don't even own your notebook. cmon...at least try...

@ashoro

doubt it...no way toshiba allows asus to use the toshiba name. they will get satellite, tecra, portege and qosmio but toshiba keeps toshiba.
why is everyone bagging on windows? the XO itself is a POS...its great PR for supporting companies but here's a newsflash...unlike the goofy org that is touting it, all the supporting companies are FOR PROFIT. can't subsidize a money loser forever no matter how good it makes you feel in this or frankly any economy. no need to wait for 18 months for XO2...for profit netbooks will render this outfit moot in 12 months...
been using an unlocked one for 3 weeks and it is simply the best RIM handset eva!!! i've used pre-pearl, pearl, and curve RIM phones as well as the iphone and a variety of winmo phones and this one is just heads and shoulders above the rest (i am lucky to that my job allows me to switch phones every 3 months or so). email, messaging, im, texting perfection goes without saying, but the beautiful display, international compatibility, and something that usually goes under the radar...battery life and radio integration are superb on this thing. with my most of my winmo phones, i would usually get 1 full business day (7-6pm), with the iphone i would get a little more than that. with the bold, i have been getting 2 solid full days (7am to midnight x 2 days) with 3G on and 3 solid full days if i only enable 2.5G. and there is something to be said about RIM and their radio work. i haven't moved homes and work in the same place for the last 3 years and RIM reception and clarity is very noticable over winmo and especially iphone.

the irony is that apple fanboys have consistently said to the PC market for years and years that you get what you pay for when the complaints of why macs are more expensive than windows based PCs. this is no truer than in this case apple fans...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...the bold is heads and shoulders above the iphone. don't get mad because someone used your own tactics against you.
#2...super doubtful that your friend has THIS one. Perhaps the current Qosmio that looks the same but not this one...
#3...wrong again. this thing will burn all current disc formats AND play HD-DVD movies. one of the pluses of this spec. one optical drive 100% backwards compatible with previous disc standards.
#7...announced may of 2005. google it up...
DVI??? no...try HDMI out. Believe it.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
