Includes NAS configured with 1 TB of disk storage space.

Yes, you can build your own; but that is only one small part of the market. What about all the others who don't even own a screwdriver, or want a turn key solution?

Also, less expensive NAS devices don't have the thruput capability to support multiple players, as this one apparently does.

One thing that Infrant does well is provide excellent network file and streaming performance due to the dedicated I/O processor.

The one thing missing is video or DVR capability.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Infrant or Slim.
You can get LightScribe discs for a lot less than $1/cd.

All the office supply, brick and mortar stores, as well as internet resellers have 10 per, 20 per, and 30 per spindles for a lot less than $1 per disc. Sometimes approaching $0.30 on my last purchase.

Heck, you can still pay $1/CD for ordinary CDs if you don't shop carefully!

Yes, the burn time stinks; but the results are lasting.

Uh...what about power? If you still have to plug it in, what is the value of being wireless?

Perhaps there is an unmentioned battery?

And how is this any different then from a NAS? or from one of the many access points where you can have a shared drive linke the DLINK or the Linksys router/access points?

Inquiring minds want to know...
Folks,

Actually a step backward.

Last year, El Gato delivered their ATSC tuner box that connects via FireWire to the Mac. When first delivered last January, it was OTA ATSC only. A few months later, they released a free software upgrade that enabled viewing of in-the-clear QAM encoded HD cable programs.

One other advantage of the FireWire connection is providing power for the El Gato HDTV tuner box.

So what is the really new thing here? A smaller box that connects via USB2 for the Mac.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
