Art Lebedev opens minimus Optimus Store in New York {Engadget}
Aug 11th 2008 10:46PM Oh man! I was just there on Sunday to just look around. Apparently I didn't look hard enough, 'cause I didn't even notice it - even though the picture of the kiosk looks familiar. I guess it didn't stick out to me, eh?
Art Lebedev opening Optimus Store in New York next month {Engadget}
Jul 16th 2008 6:42PM I was about to say the same thing! RCS in NYC is EXPENSIVE!
But that said, they do have an interesting inventory - stuff that other area computer/electronics stores don't carry. I was able to find a very nice Jack Georges bag for, like, $100 cheaper than what the price should have been.
Of course, they also wanted $1000 for an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond!
HTC Touch Diamond surfaces at CompUSA {Engadget}
Jun 18th 2008 3:28PM I saw this phone at a store recently and fell in love with it. It will probably be my next upgrade once the true USA quad-band version comes out (which is supposed to be in a few months).
I HIGHLY doubt this is the upcoming quad-band version, and I HIGHLY doubt CompUSA would get exclusive first dibs. Neither HTC nor Expansys are selling a quad-band.
On a related noted, I checked the HTC Diamond forum on Expansys, and a rep says there are no plans for a US quad-band version. I'm a little confused by this based on what I've heard, but I hope it's not true.
Ask Engadget: Which GPS rules both North America and Europe? {Engadget}
Apr 18th 2008 9:37AM I second this. I use TomTom on my Windows Mobile phone. It has worked beautifully both in the US, Canada, France, and Switzerland (with the appropriate maps, of course).
Redesign giveaway: HTC's new Shift UMPC {Engadget}
Apr 14th 2008 9:35PM I would, like, totally love to win this thing. I would, like, use it to, like, totally let the whole, like, internet know how cool Engadget, like, is. Of course, like, everyone already, like, knows this...but the, like, confirmation from me would be, like...well, like cool.
Win a Philips 42PFL5603D 42-inch 1080p HDTV! {Engadget HD}
Feb 5th 2008 8:28PM I would love to win something...anything. I'm not the lucky type. Fate looks at me as if I am the doggie-do on the bottom of mankind's show. But winning an HDTV would allow me some glimmer of happiness and hope in an otherwise abyss of heartache and despair. Chosen randomly? Darn. There goes the fleeting chance I thought I had.
Poll: Did HTC mishandle the video driver controversy? {Engadget}
Jan 23rd 2008 10:08AM My first question would be why did they not include drivers for the ATI chip? Were they trying to extend battery life? Would it adversely affect the operation of the device (make things slower, etc.)?
Or is it 'cause they wanted to market the graphics feature for a more expensive upgrade unit, but still use the same hardware - thus saving some money and bilking the loyal customer base.
If the former, I don't have THAT big of a problem with their decision (although they could still offer the driver with caveats).
If the latter, man that would be messed up! That's the kind of crap that made me stop buying I-Mate stuff.

Nov 5th 2007 8:52AM I thought Adam&Eve sold sex products...that is, so I heard somewhere....
Leopard unboxed: it's a disc in a box {Engadget}
Oct 26th 2007 10:22AM Mine shipped from Canada as well. Unfortunately, my apartment number was the only thing on the ship-to address, so now I have to wait until Monday for it to arrive (even though the address is all there on the Apple confirmation receipt).
Needless to say I'm not a happy camper.
