Because I cant wait forever ;) I need a laptop for freelancing. It seems more than likely that the MBP will be updated in the next 3-4 months, so I may as well hold onto my money, be patient, and get a better specced machine.
I think I will hold out until they update it with the new Penryn chipset, I dont see the point in blowng so much cash on somthing that will get upgraded in less than six months.
True, but they only have 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, no tilt sensitivity, and no touch strips and express keys.

Anyway, for a graphics pro looking for a portable tablet with the benefits of a cintiq then this does the job. It is quite expensive but there is nothing else quite like it.

If you just want to take a few notes and scribble some quick diagrams then a tablet pc definetly makes more sense.
pretty much except you can rotate the screen 180 and fold it over the keyboard so you can use it like a sketchbook. If it uses a wacom digitiser on the screen you can paint in photoshop and the like with pressure sensitivity.
I see this as more of a mobile workstation that freelancers could take to a job if it requires them to be on site for a few days/weeks. Its definetly not intended for the daily commute.
That is nicely designed bike! Its one of the few electric vehicls that dont look ugly. Pitty about the price and performance, hopefully those will improve with time.
Perfect way to say "look how freaking rich I am...LOOK HOW FRE" etc etc

There is somthing appealing about the back plate, the sides and keypad are indeed hideous.
Who cares about the lack of a touchpad, between using it in tablet mode and with a regular mouse I think you will live.

Anyway! Its great to see so many new tablets this month, I should be able to afford a decent one in a month or two, bring on working from the pub!- muhawhaw! =D
I used a think pad once and actually didnt mind using the pointer, it puts less strain on your fingers compared to a trackpad. Then again your probably going to be using a mouse with your laptop anyway.

lebbers - if thats the case then using a laptop is the least of your worries! ;)
I think it probably boils down to Gateway still having a pile of the older spec boards lying around. I would imagine once these are used they will start using the new boards.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
