Wow, well hopefully there will be some good hacks for these when they go on clearance this Fall. Might be worth 100 bucks or so.
Actually, 802.11g after overhead is only about 25Mbps of bandwidth. If you have a 50Mbps connection at home (FIOS I imagine), you are never going to see that speed on pure 802.11g.
Go ahead and check out the spectacular coverage for Cingular's HSDPA. It's hardly anything to speak of in comparison to Sprint. I'm guessing at least 80% of the population does NOT have access to Cingular HSDPA, and is instead stuck with Cingular EDGE until who knows when. This is more or less a fair comparison based on what consumers can readily purchase in their given area.

Obviously comparing Sprint to Verizon would be stupid, since the speeds should be more or less the same not withstanding other factors like bandwidth to the tower etc. I guess they could have took aim at T-Mobile's EDGE just as well, but why bother when they can throw some stones at one of the big boys.
So this is what you call a slow news day I guess? Thanks guys, this post was something I would have never in a million years thought of had you not shown me the light. Apparently I am becoming far too intelligent to read Engadget, because it just seems utterly retarded that you are showing me how to add extra string to a video game controller..luckily you showed me how to properly unbox it! Would not want to open box #2 before box #1. Give me a break.
Did anyone notice it says "Value you up!!" on it? With two exclamation marks..this thing is obviously badass, I haven't had a peripheral value me up in years.
It's sad to see them having to resort to petty lawsuits to turn a profit..sounds a little bit like SCO. They should have just called it quits when they failed to adapt to the changing market.
Yeah..too bad they are pricing themselves out of the market. Apparently they think people will replace Vonage with this? I doubt it. Why not at least allow you to use plan minutes for free.
Lik-Sang has not sold modchips for a long time, that stopped a while back after another lawsuit. This is truly disappointing and just goes to show that Sony is a bunch of assholes, plain and simple. I hope the PS3 is a miserable failure.
At CompUSA the "average cost" (what you have listed) is an adjusted figure including shipping costs to get the products TO the store. The real cost from their distributor is lower than that. On a store operations level though that is effectively what it costs them and the gross margin they will see on that sale.
Ahh...finally. Maybe they now they can roll out some decent coverage in upstate NY as well. It's too bad T-Mobile isn't a real option for anyone in this area that needs to be reachable 99%+ of the time.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
