Apr 10th 2007 6:42AM Obviously there is a mole inside Subaru.
The sedan look even uglier.
Land Rover explains poor showing in Initial Quality Study {Autoblog}
Aug 11th 2006 2:09PM British_Rover, except all the companies are subjected to the same design issue questionaire. so Lexus and hyundai must really be perfect. LR has about 2 problems per vehicle in 90 days. that's almost guarantee you'll see at least one.
Porsche, Lexus and Hyundai take honors in J.D. Power initial quality study {Autoblog}
Jun 8th 2006 3:07PM JDPowers also has a Long Term Reliability Survey.
You guys know that right? Because you know cars. Right?
If you just glance down one line you'll see the Vehicle Dependabilty Survey.
http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease.asp?ID=2005089
Based on 3 year old cars.
And if interested, they also have the APEAL survey.
http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease.asp?ID=2005174
Based on Performance, Execution and Layout.
That's the "love" survey. Land Rover was tops. Along with the obvious Porsche and Lexus and most luxury cars and Scion/Mini.
Consumer Report readers take mag to task on 2006 Top Picks {Autoblog}
Jun 6th 2006 2:03AM the Buick Lacrosse is Recommended by CR. the Owners Survey shows lots of red dots. Now all the assholes who says CR is biased must think Buicks suck also.
BTW CR thinks the Infiniti QX56 sucks. Absolute black on reliability and satisfaction. Now everyone go out and buy a QX56 and prove CR wrong.
Top 100 Most Reliable Cars in the U.K. {Autoblog}
May 31st 2006 6:40PM Bob: this is one list. if you doubt it, then look at any other list out there. These are the ususal suspects here. If you think Honda made #1 with the accord by luck or statistical anomaly, you are nuts.You are what SNL call "Debbie Downer".
the manufacteur index is based on frequrency and cost of repair. perhaps the skodas are cheap to repair and breakdown less.
This is a warranty company. if a breakdown warrants a call to warranty direct, then it's accounted for in the index. unless everyone calls their warranty company when the cd skips.

VW's Jetta jolting ad campaign a crashing success? {Autoblog}
May 1st 2006 8:55PM I disagree. most of the ads show distracted drivers. chatting is probably as dangerous as cellphones. The truck backing up: how else can it get out? the one driving and going forward should yield to the driver who can't see. else that red truck will never make it out of there.
Criticism of Consumer Reports prompts GM apology {Autoblog}
Mar 20th 2006 6:24PM CR's surveys ask the readers drive the cars. not an opinion on how they rank someone else's car.
If there are not enough samples, CR will simply give an N/A. ie. sports cars don't generate enough data, so it gets n/a all the time. Yes they get crazy results from owners who are bias. I remember them always seeing some people put "FORD RULES!!" or "GM SUCKS" clear across the top. Now if Ford or GM folks are passionate about their autos, then why are their so many bad reliability records? It is so bad, that biased "Ford Rules" results gets overshadowed.
Also, I remember reading in Highschool when they listed each problem area with the car.. Electrical, Engine, Body, Accessories, Paint, etc.
so a glovebox will no show up as a MAJOR PROBLEM.
And some models even show, for example a consistent bad mark on transmission (while other parts are OK) year after year.
One example, I remember, were the 90s VW turbo engines.
BTW: JD Powers has a Initial Quality AND a Long Term Reliability survey folks.
I of course, use CR AND JD Powers.
MT,RD,CR...I'm sick of...after seeing mustangs, vipers and corvettes on pretty much every other issue. They can't go 6 months without one of those on the cover. How bias is that?
If I want to see a Lotus, I have to buy the Euro mags.

Feb 16th 2006 6:53PM I forgot the name, but a few years ago, the US gov. gave the big 3 a billion dollars to work on a 100mpg car. what happened to that money? licensing hybrid technology. wonderful.
