Um, typing is very very "possible". I think you're exaggerating a LOT, unless of course your like the Pillsbury Doughboy and have no fingers.
I have a MacBook Air, and I have an Acer Aspire One A150.

Guess which one has the bigger hard drive, more ports, came with MS Office 2007 and cost me $1450 less?!?!

The speed of the Aspire One is roughly that of the MacBook Air, even though the air has a dual core chip. I Installed Vista on it, and still the speed of it is very close to that of the Air.

My experience with the NetBooks was an eye opener, they're an AMAZING VALUE for most people who only surf the web, check e-mail, chat, listen to music, and use MS Office stuff... which happens to be a lot of people. Not only that, but if you like modding things, you can add RAM, a touch screen, bluetooth, 3G, whatever and don't have to worry as much about damaging it because the original cost was so low it's replaceable.
@superugly

Yea, it is cheap... really really crappy in fact. You DONT loose peoples e-mails if you're hosting them and charging $99 a year to. That's something only a free service could get away with.
SERIOUSLY!

I used to be a fan boy, now I'm just bitter. This is what replaced .Mac? I think this qualifies as a step backward.

At least on the iPhone 2.0 update you don't notice the missing e-mail as much because your ability to respond to them lags to the point of not working (keyboard).

Go Apple!
No longer a fan boy.

Apple's quality control department needs to be smacked, a lot.
If you have ever taken care of an Alzheimer patient (I have) then you would know that thing wouldn't last little more than 30 minutes on their arm and would probably end up in a toilet or some place bound to keep you on the move. They're some tough, sneaky people!
Okay, here's what I experienced today. If many people also experienced this AT&T is about to loose a few customers.

I live in Juneau Alaska. I arrived at 8:30am thinking "people will be working... there's no way there will be much of a line". There were about 25 people in line when I arrived.

About 5 minutes after having gotten in line I asked one of the AT&T reps out for a smoke "Do you have enough phones for everyone here?". He replied that he was not a sales person and did not know. After about another 30 minutes I asked a sales rep walking outside "Do you know if there are enough phones for everyone here?" her response was "We don't know how many we have." Seriously that should have been a clue I was in for a fun morning.

An hour or so later I hear a sales rep telling a lady that she will have to pay FULL PRICE for her iPhone because she is after her initial 30 days of her contract, even though she already has an iPhone & plan. I spoke up. I told her she was wrong and that if you already have an iPhone you pay the $199/$299 price with the $18 upgrade fee. She didn't really listen to me so I pulled out my 2G iPhone, went to YouTube and searched for the iready video so I could educate her.

The sales rep asked me to come with her and she walked me into the managers office and shut the door. I showed the manager the iready video explaining their pricing for current iPhone owners... it was news to EVERYONE. I couldn't believe it! These people have no f*ing clue what they are doing!!!

I get back in line where I wait another hour and I'm finally standing inside the store. You know it's 50deg here today in Juneau AK so it was nice to start warming up a little. We waited inside for about 30 minutes and then, the manager came out and said, "We have enough phones for these two people and that's it." as she points to two people about 5 heads in front of me.

She then goes on about how you can stay and sign up for your new, more expensive plan and pay for your phone and leave with nothing, and that in about 7 days they should get some more.

Adding all the iTunes activation issues, and bad information and over charging and the dumbest sale people to walk the Earth... this has been the most unfulfilling experience I have had in a LONG time!

The First? Juneau Alaska has had WiMAX for almost a year now via AT&T. Alaska gets some of the faster wireless technologies sooner than you lower 48 people :P We were one of the first to have EVDO too, about 4 years ago.
IT'S A LAPTOP, a small one at that, how many USB ports do you need?! I mean if you want to hook up and external HDD, your new MacBook Air Superdrive, your TV remote and a bunch of other crap at the same time... get a desktop! The idea about a laptop is that it's portable, not that it's a whore for your USB dongles.

It's weird how some many people can be like, "I don't understand who would want this thing". If you don't want it, dont buy it. I know Apples marketing makes you feel like if all the cool kids have one you should too, but use what you want. Get a laptop with 8 USB ports if that's what makes you happy.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
