The whole point of HUDs is that they project the image at an infinite focal length rather than requiring focus on the windscreen itself. That way you don't need to avert your eyes or change your focal length.
Yes it was vintage, 1956 is a number in my head but it could be wrong. He was restoring it for the owner that rents it out for school formals and the like sp he had full access
"Oh, and an AWD bike?? No thank you! That is a recipe for disaster. Would NOT work. you need the free moving wheel in the front."

Actually Bard I'll have to disagree, there's no reason a AWD can't work, yamaha themselves created a prototype AWD R1 a few years ago and a production AWD WR250. The R1 never went to production because the hydraulic drive they used for the front couldn't handle the speed and power. Even the 250 required full back to factory servicing on the drive hub at regular intervals which tells me the technology just isn't ready yet, maybe electric is the way?

Given a RWD R1 is severely limited in how much power you can use without spinning the rear out of corners anything that lets you get more power to the ground has to be a good thing.

yes all of your points are half-valid and apply to all bikes and scooters (except the ones that do have ABS). These are know risks but can be heavily mitigated with a little rider skill, you position yourself so the guy in the lane next to you can see you, you know how to emergency brake without dumping yourself on your head etc. Having said that, yes bikes are crap in the snow.

On a more engadget theme; if my memory serves me correct the Aprilia Ditech SR50 was the output from the joint project with the orbital engine company in the Perth. The cool thing was the official means of accessing the engine mangement system and EFI was to plug in a Gen 1 Gameboy and you could access and tweak the bike's brains.
Great, and your comment was?
I sat through a briefing session with Lenovo the other day and either the T60 or T61 (it was a long presentation OK) had Linux support listed as a feature.
I have to bite on this one:

before we play the "when your kid's been kidnapped you'll know I'm right" card can someone explain a) how having a fingerprint will help track/recover the child apart from ID'ing the finger in the mail and b) if a) is the case then why can't we just lift the prints from one of the 100 favourite toys in the house? Sorry to be so pragmatic but...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
