Jay-
Your article is depressing. Has journalism sunk so low that it could be interchanged with the idiocy of messageboard rants, and save for a few paragraph breaks and correct spelling, no one would know the difference?
As one person said: Paulino? Bautista?
Why don't you spend a moment on that Nady trade- using your logic, Selig should step in for the Yankees, because the Bucs fleeced them.
If you want a decent team now, send your complaints to Littlefield.
If you want to get in on the groundfloor of what could be an exciting, talented pirate team look a little closer. Espn and other media folks might be a little clueless, but you don't have to be.
Clearly a joke, and far less harmful than saying juvenile beauty contests
It's an interesting debate whether a "journalist" is always a journalist on messageboards. I verify my comments from an aol account, if I was to use a work account to verify my comments, would my comments then be taken as a reflection of the opinions held in my job? I'd like to think there is a disclaimer built into all posts on any messageboard similar to a director's commentary on a movie, that the opinions and views reflected are not neccessarily those of company x.
I joe wants to post a comment, and use a work address to verifty it, hell if he wants to post a thousand comments all through a work address, it should be no different than if he uses google mail or anything else. If his intent is to troll, or otherwise muck up the boards, base that is to be base on his posts. Sure, a guy who just registers and is talking up product z or site q is suspect, but those quotes aren't exactly filled with vitriol against this site or waving the go-ign flag.
I understand you want to protect your site, but I think people are entitled to leave their affiliation at the door when making a post, just as if they would be if talking with friends at lunch, texting on a phone or wherever.
DVD penetration is getting dangerously close to full (I just wanted to say that), but seriously, dvd playback is only slightly less useful than cd playback. It would be one thing if the wii could double as a portable dvd player, but, from personal experience, I have never used a game console as the primary or even secondary dvd player and I would think most people are verging on having too many dvd players, rather than too few.
It will be interesting to see how the other sites pan out. Video game reviewers each hav e their own value system. But most readers and reviewers would agree a 5 and below is a failed game, 6 is proof, 7 is decent, 8 is good and 9 is great. That's your 5 star system right there. Numbers below 5 are merely to outline why a game failed, or to deride it. In the case of PC games, it makes sense because a patch may fix a flawed game.
Also, is there any grading system out there, anywhere, school, media, wherever that actually uses a bell curve with 50/5 being average? It seems downright un-American to me.
Another flaw in the Matrix movies!
The idea of using games to teach concepts in school is great. Repitition remains one of the strongest tools to get kids to remember stuff, and having them want to play over and over is brimming with possibility. How many people can remember terribly useless "facts" from Oregon Trail because they played it so much in school. The key is not so much fun, which helps, but really playing it over and over again to drumbeat the concept into the longterm memory.
I don't know if own/rent is a simple dichotomy. To me, having something digital feels like I am renting the item, as opposed to owning an actual physical object. While I feel greater control than with a subscription service, I still think as follows that owning a copy feels like second tier ownership, that I am just renting the original.
If a buy a song off Itunes, am I allowed to sell it to someone else?
Is there any actual data on ipod theft? I would imagine most thieves would choose the moment when a person takes it out of their pocket to look at/switch songs.

Is ipod stealing more prevalent than other forms of petty theft during the daily commute? Or is this more of the rock to keep tiger's away logic?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a pair of quality headphones that aren't seemingly made of glass. I'm an avid BMXer which causes me to frequently bash on any type of technology that joins me for my daily riding. I've been through the higher quality headsets in the Skullcandy line as these are supposed to be built for "abuse," which is laughable. I cant wear earbuds or canal buds, as my large ears seem to have a repelling property upon anything that sits in them. Wired or Bluetooth doesn't really matter, but I need something that can hold up to taking a few hits every now and again. I'm trying to keep 'em under $150. Thanks!"
