I wonder if Randy's buddy Gabe will reconsider delivering quality PS3 versions of Valve's titles after seeing these numbers. Ignoring the huge PS3 install base just gets stupider and stupider every day, I'd happily buy L4D2 if I could play it on my platform of choice...
Hilarious that he says it's in Apple's court, after green-lighting the anti-iPhone ads that essentially guaranteed they won't ever get it. Who knows what actually happened, but it sounds like they asked for more than Apple would give, got angry and trashed the iPhone in their ads... and now want to make it look like it's Apple's fault.
I guess Final Fight 2 isn't innovative, but it does add one hugely important thing to the experience -- two player simultaneous play. That feature was sorely lacking from the original Final Fight on SNES. Worth noting if you're deciding which one to buy.
While I agree a black one would be nice, it's hard not to notice that this is essentially the same machine as the 13" MacBook pro, minus firewire, minus SD card slot, and with 90gb more hard drive space. If you're looking at getting the cheapest MBP, it's worth considering just how much you would use firewire or an sd card slot.

Seriously, you save 17% off the cheapest MBP if you don't need firewire or an sd card slot. I don't need either, so I'd rather have the $200.

I still wish they offered a black one again, but we all know if they did they would charge an extra $100-$150 just for that... making it stupid to get versus the MBP.
So I keep thinking that I'm being too much of a cheapskate lately, as I've been buying and playing my games about 6 months to a year after they come out in order to save money.

Then I read another article like this and realize that there's another compelling reason to wait - the bugfixes - and it makes me sad.

Note to devs: if you want us to pay top dollar and get it before you drop the price, make sure it works properly on day 1. It's just stupid to pay full price and end up getting a worse experience for it than someone who picks it up later for less and gets all the bugfixes that should have been in on top of it.
Lost among all the criticism of the Go during the past few weeks was the insight that its very existence would help the platform. Great to see that it has. I have a 1k and a 2k model, and am grateful that there are tons more games to download from the store. I'm even considering buying a Go in spite of the high price because I loathe UMDs and the poor battery life, not to mention the slightly-too-big-and-heavy size of even the 2k.

Nice move Sony, you got the developers to put their games on the Store. Now drop the price!
or perhaps people aren't idiots at all, but want their portable devices to be _convenient to take with them_.

I have a launch PSP and a PSP 2k. And despite how angered everyone says I am supposed to be about not being able to use my UMDs with it, I am interested in the Go. Why? Because it *is* smaller. Because it's lighter and less wide, so it's easier to hold. Because it doesn't eat batteries due to a wasteful disc drive.

They made it more portable, and forced developers to place their catalog of PSP games online--literally quadrupling the amount of games that can be downloaded to PSP in one day.

Say what you want, but launching the Go tremendously benefited the PSP platform... PSP 1k/2k/3k users included.
I'm shocked to say that I'm fairly impressed with the Go. I can see why people view it as overpriced (it is) and lacking in functionality without the UMD slot... but as an owner of both a 1001 model and 2k I have to say the loss of UMD isn't a big deal, and it looks to me like long gaming sessions might be more comfortable with this design. As an avid video game collector turned father recently, I am very much starting to see the benefits of not having huge media shelves storing all kinds of video games. I've lost at least 3 Nintendo DS games over the years due to their tininess, and never end up having the PSP games I want with me because carrying around more than a few UMDs is really inconvenient. Having it all on my PSP or being able to re-download it whenever is a huge win in my book. There's a reason everyone with a DS has a flashcard, it's because carrying around a zillion cartridges with a portable is a PITA.

My favorite thing about this is that it is very clear Sony wants to test the waters here before making final decisions for PSP 2. One would assume they realize PSP 2 has to have a touch screen, but to add it to the Go wouldn't really make a lot of sense if it is playing the same PSP library. If they can get the devs on board with this (they should, digital-only is *way* more profitable for devs, particularly smaller ones), they can really set the stage for PSP2 to kick ass as a digital-only machine.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that when they start playing with the price the Go gets a lot more attractive. It's overpriced now, but once they make some bucks off of the early adopters and get production ramped up, they can drop it pretty quickly-- it's probably cheaper to make than a 3k model already. At $250 it's a rip, but at $150 or even $199 a machine like this that can play video, music, and all the PSP/PS1 games from the PS Store is pretty damned attractive. GoW and classics like Castlevania: SOTN, FF VII, and Silent Hill is just sweet. Especially with the new game pause feature (I'm looking at you FF VII).
.

For those ripping on this... Seriously for those of us that live in a place with bad cell coverage this is huge. As it is I had to switch from iPhones to BB on Verizon recently because we get such poor coverage at my house. And my company gets a big discount on AT&T service. So they can have their $10 or $15 a month from me for this for sure... I will gladly pay for this to have awesome coverage at my house.

Might as well just go to a subscription model at this point, don't you think? People would end up paying hundreds for CoD games made by Infinity Ward.

Also, no offense Activision but your CEO needs to just keep his mouth shut next time he wants to do his 'Sony needs to drop the price of the PS3' spiel. Between this and the neverending stream of games Activision sells with some peripheral for $100 or more (Guitar Hero, Ride, DJ Hero) they're just looking like greedy bastards. At least Sony is losing money on the PS3...

"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
