I checked one out next to a 13, and in comparison, it's disappointing. IMO the 13's build quality/materials is MUCH nicer. OK, no optical isn't a dealbreaker, but with the size of the chassis, it should have one, or it should be much thinner instead. If the 13 didn't exist, it's not bad, but since it does, at least from a non-performance perspective, it's a loser.
Unlike some wonky ideas (that spinning radial piston thing from the last Duesenberg concept comes to mind) , at least the basic opposed-piston concept has been around in working form for over a century. That long outer conrod has historically been an issue with OP design (that's why most have 2 cranks), so it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
I'm in. I think the 13 is better built, but who am I to complain?
This could be a real mockup, (Toshiba told me years ago their mockups were made of wood) but I doubt something like this would make production as a ThinkPad. The keyboard layout and power button location are very SL-like. But they've been making a bit of noise about the SL's 'hidden' hinges, which this doesn't have. And the non-repeat of the 'titanium'-colored lid on the Z60, and the move on the SL from glossy to matte lids methinks the white isn't for production.

My guess is this was a mockup for a to-be "SL210," which didn't come to be after they decided to drop the SL300 (which I have one of).
I'll also vote 'Celica.' Conceptually, it's closer to what the Celica was originally supposed to be. Levin/Trueno has much less name recognition, and have always been attached to the Corolla nameplate. If it gets the Scion treatment for the US, but a historic Toyota name elsewhere, I think there will be a brisk business in rebadge kits.
I'm guessing this is supposed to replace the funky Mobilio. The size increase would make it like the FR-V. The C-max and Orlando are both have hinged rear doors, but this looks like it's sliding. If sliding doors is the appeal here, there's the StepWGN.
Yeah, why'd the best part of 80s Ford ads get cut off?
Well, that ruined my fantasies about Citroens. I always thought you could get under one using just the onboard Hydropnuematique system.
Collectible from what standpoint? Exotics automatically get that label because they're 'collectible' from the word go. There are the mid-market, high-volume sporty cars like early Zs, Miata, AE86, etc. that are like early Mustangs. Muscle cars (GT-R, JZA80), rare oddballs (REPU, Pao/Be1/S-Cargo). There's probably something in every category.
And how is it a Historic Vehicle?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
