Jul 7th 2008 10:37AM Microsoft has great software. Have you ever used office? I'm betting that you have. Even Open Office is basically just an office clone. Visual Studio is probably the best IDE I've ever used. Their operating system may leave something to be desired, but software wise, I think Microsoft is pretty solid.

One word, Ubuntu. I've installed it on 6-7 pcs, ranging from a 9 year old pent2, 3 dell laptops, 1 macbook, and a couple of random desktops. Default install recognized every bit of hardware out of the box, including webcams, built in microphones, video capture cards, sound cards, wlan cards etc etc etc.
