Ask Engadget: What's the best netbook out there? {Engadget}

Aug 15th 2008 12:08PM I like my Eee. It's the 701 model, so the screen might not be perfect for everyone (although it's a lot better than most people say), and with EeeXubuntu running on it (albeit upgraded to 8.04, instead of still running 7.10), it works perfectly. Great for browsing the internet, with firefox in fullscreen, although not so great for taking notes - nothing can really compare to paper for that. The battery life is also not that great, and tends to fluctuate a lot. The OS has trouble making up its mind about the battery, so I can't really trust the main way I have of knowing how much longer it can run, which is very irritating.

Scientists devise software that can interpret attractiveness {Engadget}

Apr 5th 2008 12:29AM "You have been scientifically proven to be unattractive. You may join the rest of your kind in the cage."

Nintendo's DS Lite retrofitted into MacBook Air ad {Engadget}

Feb 18th 2008 8:25PM Nope, it's real. Flashblock is very useful, I find, as I can click on youtube links, and then not see the video until I decide to let it run.

Hey Everex, it's the 15th: CloudBooks please? {Engadget}

Legal tender for all debts, public and private. Also see wikipedia: "Legal tender or forced tender is payment that, by law, cannot be refused in settlement of a debt denominated in the same currency."

Mouse Computer's LuvBook J131 kicks it Penryn style {Engadget}

Jan 28th 2008 9:32PM That's 1,125 Dollars. According to Google, you paid about 1,642 for your laptop, and this laptop, in Euros, would be about 764. In other words, you paid almost 50% more for your laptop than you would have to pay for this one.

Eee PC with all the hacks, but can it ever learn to love? {Engadget}

Jan 20th 2008 12:21PM In the same way that a prostitute can love: she'll be with you as long as you have money, and leave as soon as you run out.

Mirus' $199 Linux PC keeps the trend alive, lands at Sears {Engadget}

Jan 17th 2008 9:16PM I don't know what you're talking about, because none of the Celerons are dual-core (at least not yet - Intel is planning on launching a dual-core Celeron on the 20th). Even the Celeron D is a single core processor (the D doesn't stand for anything).

"Researchers" hope to launch paper airplanes from space {Engadget}

Jan 16th 2008 7:53PM The problem is that different layers of the atmosphere have different terminal velocities, but, more importantly, that there is not terminal velocity in space. Thus, it needs to be able to burn off the excess momentum before it burns up, and to do this, it needs to avoid burning up.

OpenFrame: 'The iPhone of home phones' {Engadget}

Jan 8th 2008 11:17PM It has a touch-screen, curved corners, and is mostly black. As everyone should know, Apple invented touch-screens, curved corners, and the color black. Thus, anything which uses those elements is similar to the iPhone.

Are compact fluorescent bulbs causing migraines? {Engadget}

Jan 2nd 2008 9:49PM 60Hz monitors (or anything under 85Hz) are way worse, in my opinion. Especially when most of what they are displaying is white.
