That price may look high to the americans but it's actually a steal here in teh UK where Classic Slingboxes go for $300 retail..
Anyway, I would have gladly paid £50 more for this device had it had an ethernet port and a built-in FTP or SMB server for me to access the files. It wouldn't hurt if it could encode these to Mpeg4 for me while it's sitting there being super green and all.

Oh well, another "almost-perfect-but-absolutely-useless-in -its-current-form" type of thing.
Kindof OT but I sure hope left hand will speak to the right hand at Apple.
I paid good $ for the Pro version of Quicktime and yet when I play videos from iTunes they don't use QT Pro interface and goodies. Please give us an option to play videos from the iTunes library directly in Quicktime without doing file reveal and then drop on Quicktime.

For all of those in the dark; QT Pro offers superior anti-aliasing (great for low res videos), overlay controls and best of all multi-screen support (where iTunes only plays fill screen on the screen it is currently on).
Didn't know people still bought 4 speed automatics
Didn't know they still made 4 speed automatic gearboxes.
Come on Dodge, give us some refinement
Don't forget that turbo-charged engines tend to have very hot exhaust fumes and exponentially drink more gas as power increases.
I think that BMW tried to hit somewhere in the middle of the power range between the 330 and the new M3 which is expected to have north of 400bhp.
BMW was also very careful not to make it to thirsty, while optimizing the torque and other cruiser features.
Expect many more teams to jump on the bandwagon and show up with Diesel powerplants next year. Mercedes and BMW would definitely be my first guesses.
Here in Europe we've been emjoying Diesels for quite some time. They offer huge torque advantage over petrol engines (engine over turbo petrols) and greater fuel efficiency. All of this thanks to sky high compression ratios (about 19:1)
Over the last 4 years, High-end Diesels have improved their power ratings while reducing noise and pollutant emissions.
I think that the writing on the wall is pretty clear now: Oil barrels are not getting any cheaper, people need alternative sources of fuels (Biodiesel), yet they aren't willing to sacrifice range or power.

Diesel all the way it is. America be prepared for some more European cars, as the American manfucaturers (and the Asians to some extent) can't build modern Diesel engines.
In other news, this car should retail for a min £45k ($85K) in the UK and this is despite the car being produced in the EU for a EU country (so no import duties).
$50K will get you a 130i here in the UK (beurk)
Ferfuksake BMW give us some value too.
I'm gonna vote with my walet on this one and just not buy it.
Anybody know what sort of drivetrain this will have?
I am guessing that like all other VW it will never be a RWD only, but can somebody please cheer me up by telling me it will be available in 4 motion (VW's 4 wheel drive system).

If not than it will just be another pretty face with dull dynamics.
Wanax, if you think carrying a 12 pound bike up 2 stairs is not convenient, what would you do with your segway? There's no way you would carry that thing up.
And if you've got storage/parking space downstairs for a Segway then you have space for a bike.
Btw, if you plan on getting to the office at 12mph max (Segway top speed) than you wouldn't be breaking any sweat on a bike (unless you live in a bumpy place like SF).
Looks like you could use a Scooter; they are much cheaper, go faster, have greater range and cost less to buy. You can even take a passenger on the back for those 125cc and up.
Running cost are insignificant.
Unfortunately these things are neither road legal, nor sidewalk legal here in the UK so we can't really use them..
Also, being electric and al you need to plug them in, fine. However we don't have mains plugs sitting around on the street so you need to bring these things in your house for a charge which is where it all falls down. How am I supposed to carry this 200 pound thing up my stairs? Nevermind that it would get mud all over my carpet.

So in essence it's geeky, illegal to use, impractical and expensive... Looks like they have a winner on their hands.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
