While I'm disappointed about this, it's not really that big a deal. If it's just 1-3 weeks in order for them to perfect the SDK that doesn't bother me all that much. If it gets too much longer than that, like a month or two, that would be a major bummer.

Since we know select developers got early access to the SDK, I wonder what the delay could be. Is it possible Apple is developing some software upgrades of their own that are taking some time (ie, ichat)
"Put it in a time capsule, just to confuse future generations."

Ha! Very funny!
So this thing has a keypad that pops up on the screen when you are sending a text, but you still have to use T9 word???....if its all software why not have a qwerty keypad pop up? Isn't the whole advantage of a touchscreen keypad that it can change to whatever keypad is needed in that situation.

That's stupid
I'm not even sure what some of these things are....but winning them would be the greatest thing ever.
You can adjust the camera settings on your wife. That doesn't even make sense.
I have a netgear and its constantly cutting out and the only way to get it up and running again is to unplug it and plug it in again.
I'm moving from the 700p to the iphone.

I honestly like the iphone a lot better, so far. And thats saying a lot because I really liked my treo. The interface is better, the web browsing is better. And the iphone borrows the threaded SMS interface from Treo, which is key.

The calender is better on the Treo, but only slightly, for my uses e-mail is pretty much the same. And of course the iphone has the ipod features.

The only serious way that the treo beats the iphone is the keyboard. But frankly, at this point I am loving the huge iphone screen way more than having a keyboard, and I am getting better at the keypad everyday, though I still have trouble using my thumbs.

The phone is good, a little quiet in speaker phone though, and AT&T has so far disappointed...NO DROPPED CALLS MY ASS!

overall though I'd give it an 8.5/10.

I dealt with this whole issue and there is 1 key here. DON'T GET OFF THE PHONE WITH THEM.

When they tell you to wait and call back -- Don't

After waiting 24 hours, they told me to wait 72 hours and call back, so I freaked out at them, surprise surprise, phone is activated 5 minutes later.

THEY CAN FIX IT.

It is not a server issue.

Just be a huge nag and you won't have to wait any longer.
I want to write the great American novel on the iPhone type pad.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
