Actually is DOES support non touch screen devices, but the support is very spotty right now. It doesn't work on my Samsung Jack, but it works great on my friends phone ( never cared enough to find out what kind it was).
I'm too lazy to read the above comments all the way through so I do not know if anyone touched on this, but WalMart is also getting in house tech support services very similar to geek squad. Also, they are getting a service where you can return used video games in a RedBox type of device for some WalMart store credit. I do not have any kind of official source, that is just what I have found out while poking around in the computers in Electronics (I work there if that helps...).
OMG!!! This phone reminded me of when I had a Siemens SL55 through AT&T. For a phone it was pretty friggin small and a slider. I quickly took a wristband and some velcro and turned it into a ghetto watch phone. Most people actually liked it as far as the general idea.
The second these things finally go capacitive, I'm jumping on it! Always been a fan of Archos, just waiting for improved screens.
Wow...those are some horrid boot times. I'm running a 3 year old install of XP and it only takes me 29 seconds to be completely up and running. Maybe I'll wait a little bit before buying Windows 7 now. >.>
Yeah, it really sucks for those of us with non touchscreens though. I just switched from a tilt to a samsung jack cuz my tilt went up in flames. Now I have to use Skyfire. The only thing Skyfire is missing is tabbed browsing.
OMG! I've been using the betas so long that I haven't even been keeping track of the version numbers at all. Now that I think about it, I have been using the betas since back when I was driving a Semi truck, so 3 years at least! They need to hurry up and come out with a finalized version already!
Okay, so to seriously answer the actual question posed by the author, I think Opera Mini is just fine. Opera Mobile, not so much. It has been in beta for a couple years now. They don't have the brains to make the beta available for NON touchscreen windows mobile phones. If it's going to be in beta so long, it better be damn good once they polish it up. Or maybe the announcement is for Opera Mobile 10 Beta! Alright! Going from one beta to another! But I really hope that is not the case.
I could seriously use a replacement for this busted old laptop I'm on now.
Gyaaaaa!!! Why did my name change?! Oh well...whatever.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
