Why in the world wasn't the "Amazon Kindle" a choice for WORST gadget of the year? There are no plus sides to that thing, and there won't be until the Amazon's eBook policy gets retooled.
Still open, Schweeeet!
I want I want I want soooo bad.
I'm so happy to be picked!
Four hundred bucks, no backlight...

Still feels lacking to me. They need to make this thing significantly more appealing than simply carrying around a slim-design notebook.

The only real interesting point is the notion that this tech could finally reduce the long-gouged price of newly published books. Other than that, I'll wait for paperback, thanks.
"I will mail you money" = Best comment lead to date.
No crap. Someone explain this to me--why no Component inputs? Have they been lobbied out of the game by copyright-obsessed marketing executives or what? Some people actually *prefer* component--and, as mentioned, there are plenty of peripherals (DVD players, Xbox 360s, Standard Xbox, PS2) that don't have HDMI, but people don't want to connect with crappy Composite cables.

This bothers me a lot. Are we entering an era where all top-tier displays are going to drop Component inputs completely?
This discussion thread just goes to show how politicized the whole thing can get. People such as Luke, for example, reject the idea that everyone has a right to confirm their vote and have a hard copy available for verification if needed, solely because the party which he clearly associates himself with has made it their party line that "nothing is wrong with the system." But there is, and "fixing technology" is EXACTLY what we're talking about. Just becuase the GOP was under fire first for possibly benefitting from botched voting machines, that doesn't mean that the machines still aren't flawed, regardless of who might benefit.

If we can't agree on this simple thread that confirmation is either a good/bad idea, without politicizing the issue, imagine how those NIST meetings played out.
I would like to have one!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
