Anti-virus software is the 'Windoz tax' both in dollars and in processor load. No bluetooth on any mac in the last 5 years is completely wrong. And if you need Windoz, a Mac can do that too. Bootcamp, VMWare or Parallels.
Agreed. The first thing that went thru my mind was 'she didn't add in the anti-virus software and an hour later she owned a brick.' They are appealing to the '*-Mart' mentality that cheaper is better. Nobody seems to look at total cost of ownership anymore.
Because the vast majority of people care about what the device does, not the hardware that does it. If you gave me any of the phones you list, I would throw it in the trash and keep my iPhone because it does what I want it to do.
@jollyllama:

Of course I could be more wrong, just ask my wife! But seriously, I think you miss my point, and we are in more agreement than you think.

We HAVE the technology and know how to make hydropower clean AND fish friendly. You stated that yourself in your post. What we lack is the WILL to make it so, which you also skirt around in your post.

Do I prefer wind, solar and geothermal to hydro? Sure! But I prefer hydro to killer coal and nuclear any day. I think if you remove ALL government subsidies for killer coal and nuclear, hydro, is pretty cost effective.
I'm stunned. Greens love hydro. Fish ladders solved the fish issue back in the 1960s. And we already know how to minimize bird strikes on wind power. All ancient history.

My gripe: It's ugly. Just like that 100mpg hybrid H3.
@ ipod touch owner:

You suffer from dead ideas. Reading is NOT simply visually decoding printed text. Blind people can read, right?

Some people are visual learners and do fine with print only. Others are auditory learners and do better with hearing. Comprehension and retention is almost always improved for everyone when BOTH are present.

And your belief that US students only read 1-2 books before age 18? That is so laughable I find it hard to believe anyone would be so gullible to believe it. I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
And why do they need Windoz to do ANY of the tasks you site?
Exactly! but with the Battlestar Galactica insignia on it? Too many references...
You are spot on, Joe. Anyone who thinks JM is so disabled he can't use a computer has no clue about assistive technology. His disability isn't the reason.
Nastro, where is your logical, critical thinking? I see no cost benefit analysis from your post. Where's your physics? Hey, I just spotted some BS!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
